I really enjoyed this one. I bought it years ago and completely forgot about it so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Glad this was my #doublespin this month for #bookspinbingo

The story was interesting and really brought home the inequality of the USA system for me, but the MC was rather frustrating. I wanted more about WHY she was so enamored of her evil corporate boss, and WHY it didn‘t bother her to work for him, for this book to be a pick. But it was a fun read, and I did enjoy the idea of a group of female underpaid and under appreciated assistants working together against evil corporate (male) bosses. 2.5/5 stars
For some reason, reading about financial crimes makes me nervous. My intense dislike for the handsome attorney nearly ruined the book for me.
First, I adored the tagged book.
Second, I'm using it as an opportunity to share that my colleague and I are currently seeking a new assistant. It's entry-level, but we are hoping for someone with a bit of office experience, a strong interest in book publishing, and exceptional organizational skills.
In short, you get to talk about books all day long and convince others to buy said books. Please share with anyone that might be interested! (NYC)
I have started all 3 but I‘m stuck on what I should read next. Nothing is standing out to me right now. Opinions please!!!
My only thought that kept running through my mind when I closed this book, “Can I sign up for their services?” If you‘re a 20-something with student loans, read this book and then let‘s make magic happen together.
A delightfully fun, light read. The Assistants is a great novel about women, sticking it to the man, and overcoming injustice, but without too much weight. Although the student loan debt situation is a serious one, I was constantly amused. My only criticism is that the second half was a bit rushed- but this got me through a busy week. It was good for a laugh.
Despite my cat's skepticism, I am almost done with The Assistants for book club tonight!

Trying to get this read before book club tomorrow night, but it's so good already that I don't think it'll be hard!
This one has been on my TBR pile for a long time and I think I originally picked it up because a Litten recommended it. I needed something lighter after Five Chimneys and it delivered. Fluffy and fun with some good lines, but it lacked fully developed characters. I think it would make a good movie or mini series if they put some time into character development.
Quick enjoyable summer read! I enjoyed the characters and all their flaws. Nothing too serious here which was just right for me at this moment.
Day 5 #jubilantjuly Workaholics. I picked up #theassistants because the ebook was super cheap and it was just an overall fun read about a thirty year old paying off her student loans.
This book was so much fun to read. I finished it in one sitting only. A contemporary book which wasn't a love story, it was refreshing to read something different for a change.
Stayed up until 1AM finishing Salt to the Sea and I definitely shed a few tears. It's a powerful book with characters that draw you in and stick with you. My review will be up on The Bookly Club soon, so stay tuned. // Up next is The Assistants by Camille Perri and I'm super excited for it. After a couple heavy books this month I'm ready for something fun and this sounds perfect. What are you reading this weekend?
Interesting premise but sadly not really executed well. The characters were not well drawn and the plot not much better. Don't waste your time.
This book was so dumb. It was dumb in concept and didn't have any likable or interesting characters.
Is this my first #LitsyRecommended book? Interesting note - the narrator sounded so familiar I wondered if it was someone I knew. Did we go to school together? But she's just narrated 2 other books I've read!
Early to brunch meeting means time to update my #bulletjournal while I listen to The Assistants. #readathon is only doable for me with audiobooks!
My library haul - in celebration of National Library Week (I know it's past but I was reading my haul!) I checked out The Assistants from the recommendation of @MrBook - its next up on my TBR. #blameitonlitsy #blameMrBook
"He is obviously a mama's boy, and probably part labrador retriever." ??? The hilarity of this book was much needed after watching 13 Reasons Why and reading Edgar and Lucy. I needed light and fluffy!!
#TBRtemptation post 5! This debut novel centers around Tina, a 30-year-old NYU grad & exec assistant to billionaire Robert Barlow. She works hard but still can't get ahead. Then an expense report mistakenly reimburses her for a lot of money. Should she report the error or become debt-free? She pays off her loans, but accounting assistant Emily catches her, & now Tina must pay Emily's or be ruined. The office heats up! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Was on the fence on this one and this might have pushed me over the DNF ledge. "You're not like other girls" is just so vomit-worthy. #FeministEyeRoll #AssHat #SoMuchNope #ItGetsSoOld #WhatTheHellWomenAreYouMeetingAnyway
Have about 30 minutes left in this book and it's done. So far, it more... meh than yeah. Here's hoping the Hawks and Captain Toews are in better shape than their last game and better than the disaster that was the Pens' games last night. #readingandwatchinghockey
Hoping to finish this one tonight while listening to the Pens going to war against their eternal rivals, Flyers. Hawks took a beating last night and the Leafs are in trouble if they lose Andersen. #readingandlisteningtohockey
I enjoyed this modern Robin Hood-type story, and found myself really rooting for the Assistants. The book is full of funny one liners, and it was a nice palate cleanser after reading a couple of "heavy" books.
As far as I was concerned, Dorothy Zbornak from The Golden Girls was second only to Robert in toughness overall.
-I came across this Golden Girls reference while watching Golden Girls!-
Saturday is Hockey Night in Canada. Leafs battle the Sabres. Captain Toews and the Hawks are in Florida. Go rookies! #readingandwatchinghockey
I was all for gender equality and all that, but let's put it on the record here that no self-respecting man should implement the smiley or any emoticon, ever.
Not one, not two but three games this evening. Captain Toews, captain Crosby with teeth back and rookies on the high of last night win. Definitely a good night for hockey. #readingandlisteningtohockey
Rookies are ahead by 2 on the Blue Jackets. Go Rookies. #readingandlisteningtohockey both my team and the book feature underdogs.
Reading and watching the Pens crush Florida. Sir Sidney got a 🎩 trick. He's a bit smug. #readingandwatchinghockey The assistants is not a bad light read.
Rookies versus Hawks tonight on Hockey night in Canada. Saturday is hockey night. Toews, Kane, Keith battle the rookies. Should be a good game. Hawks are going for win number 3 in Canada. #readingandwatchinghockey
Next few reads. I need a mental break! #palatecleanser
Such a fun story!! Really enjoyed this one; it's a quick, easy read and I smiled a LOT as I was reading it. 📚📚😁
This was fluff. Very entertaining fluff. It reminded me of the first few Shopaholic books, which from me is very high praise.
This book is very good for what it is. It is a light novel about low-level employees at a huge media company who decide to steal from their boss to pay off their enormous student loan. I enjoyed it well enough. It is a nice distraction from the news and the real world which is all you can ask for from a book. Question: what is a better/more correct term for "chick lit"? I absolutely hate that expression. Thank you
Adorable! I had this one on audio and it was so cute and funny! Here's hoping someone crowd funds all of our respective student loans! 🤗
This book wasn't bad, but it didn't make me care about the characters enough to keep reading
Putting this in the "pick" category because it's fun and easy enough. I think it's a little shorter on substance than it hopes to be, but it functions well as a breezy chick lit/romcom reading palate cleanser, which is pretty much all I could handle this morning.
