It took me awhile to get through this book. Not because I didn‘t like it, I just couldn‘t get distracted or I‘d get lost. It‘s nothing like the Netflix series, which I love, but it‘s still a great story about drug cartel Queen Teresa Mendoza.

Typical Iowa fall day. Shorts and a fire 😃 I‘m struggling through this book, but I‘m not giving up!!! It‘s not that I don‘t like it, it‘s just really hard to follow!!
I‘m obsessed with Netflix‘s The Queen of the South series. So when I discovered it was based on a book, of course I had to order that!!
Kind of plodding through this one. I'm not sure if the Spanish is too hard or the story just doesn't interest me (but I loved the Telemundo series that was made based on this book.)
When it comes to #librosenespanol the biggest mistake I make is reading what I think I should be reading (more challenging, well-known author, classic, not translated from English) instead of what I want to read (not a challenge, children's book, translated from English.) In this case I feel like I *should* be reading La Reina del Sur for the author/challenge, but I'd rather be reading Luna for the cuteness but the Spanish is super easy.
@Clwojick
😔 None really. I'm in a slump. I blame Netflix.
#greatfirstlines to get you ready for the adventure that is The Queen of the South. This great novel got me back into reading after a long dry spell. I highly recommend this one if you haven't already read it. #booktober
Drugs are bad (so I've been told and heard), but this tale of a young woman who becomes a major drug queen is soooo good, as are all of Perez-Reverte's translated books. #somethingforsept
A gritty, yet beautifully told story about a young Mexican girl's rise as the head of a dangerous drug empire. Have all the episodes of this tivoed. Worried the show won't be as good as the book (per usual!).
