Shocking revelations kept me turning the pages like a madwoman TESS GERRITSEN Fast-paced and addictive, THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR announces a major new talent in thriller writing. **** You never know what's happening on the other side of the wall. After all, you only live next door. You'll have the baby monitor and you'll take it in turns to go back every half hour. Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realized. She's gone. You've never had to call the police before. But now they're in your home, and who knows what they'll find there. What would you be capable of, when pushed past your limit? **** 'How well do we ever know those around us? THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR will keep you glued to the pages in search of the answer. Even then, you'll never guess the truth...until it's too late' LISA GARDNER Meticulously crafted and razor-sharp. This book took forever to get interesting & then it became utterly ridiculous & unbelievable. I only continued because I had the urge to know how it would end.

This was such a good book until the last chapter. It was a real twisty read with lots of shocks along the way. Most shocking of all was that rubbish last chapter 😂
Still a pick though!

Brilliant book full of twists and turns. Just when you think the story cannot unfold any further it does. How far will people go for money? This book certainly did not disappoint and kept me reading

Wow. WoW. WOW. This book was incredibly suspenseful, and I thoroughly didn't expect the twists and turns. I'm not really the reader that tries to figure it out, anyway, but a lot of this I didn't predict. Except for the VERY end, to which I am absolutely positively happy and fine with. Good for her, tbh. This was my last book for this weekend's #24B4Monday!

Read this in 2 sittings, definitely a page turner. Author could have written more on Anne's dissociative disorder, perhaps done more research. The book could have had a nice happy ending by stopping just a page shorter - I don't think there was any need for Anne to kill Cynthia, she could have just held that information and been 'in control' of Cynthia instead...
I did enjoy this book though, and would be interested in reading her next novel.

This book is an insane thrill ride that kept me glued to the very last page... it takes a bit to really get going, but once the first twist drops, it‘s just not what you expect and it‘s not until the end that all the pieces fall into place.. an incredible thriller that I would suggest to anyone that loves a good domestic suspense read!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A gripping listen about a kidnapping, a ransom, mothering, and mental health. A baby is taken from her crib while her parents are next door at a dinner party. It becomes obvious halfway through, but the case becomes more complicated and ends with an....unnecessary....twist.

A well known quote springs to mind
“For the love of money is the root of all evils” -1 Timothy 6:10 ✝️

This was a bit of a rollercoaster for me a times a real page turner ... clutching my phone torch after lights out but I did find the characters quite frustrating at times and not sure how I feel about the ending 😕

Worth a read but won‘t be going on my fav book list

Slightly underwhelmed by this storyline. Most end of chapters had mediocre cliffhangers, I didn‘t feel compelled to finish this book as soon as possible. Some details in the story weren‘t revealed well, such as Richard Dries‘ relationship with Derek Honig, or why Derek introduced himself to Marco under a fake alias. Some parts just didn‘t connect!

Powered_By_Plants I agree , Just finished this one too and I felt quite frustrated by Anne! 3mo

This was a really solid thriller, where a couple, having left their baby at home next door while attending dinner at the neighour's, come home to find their baby missing. Some twists I predicted, others I didn't, and overall I enjoyed it and was kept guessing until the end.

Good read, easy to finish because the writing is so easy and story so juicy you don‘t want to put it down.. little lack luster but only because I had such high expectations.

Please pardon the weird photo. I‘ve tried 5 times to post this and it won‘t post right side up. Well, where to begin ? This book didn‘t need a rocket scientist to figure out where most of it was going. Saying that, I will give it credit for holding my attention. These books are such quick reads you can finish in a day. I‘m not good at rating this genre since it‘s not my favorite. I‘ve just been in the mood for DIFFERENT. Let‘s give it 3🌟. Not bad

britt_brooke I don‘t read many thrillers either and really didn‘t like this one. I was put off by the mediocre (at best) writing. At least it was fast. 4mo
Kaye @britt_brooke This made the main character sound like she only had 3 brain cells and two were short- circuiting. I‘m LOUSY at figuring out anything with a mystery or a twist, but I had it figured out an hour in. I think the thing that bugs me about these books is they always make the girls seem like Half Wits. 🤪😜🙃 4mo
britt_brooke @Kaye 😆😆 You‘re right, though. 4mo

I‘m on a self-imposed book-buying ban this year while I try to tame the chaos that is my TBR and #ReadMyOwnDamnBooks. But, I‘ve had $100 worth of Plum reward points and I told myself in Jan that I could use them at my birthday. And did I ever! I had a delightful time picking out a half a dozen books and can‘t wait to dive into some of these.

Nute Wonderful selections! 5mo
Clwojick Such a great selection! I‘ve been hoping to find The Silent Patient and Lovely Wife at the thrift store. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 5mo
llwheeler $100 of Plum points! Wow, I am impressed with your discipline! I don't think I've ever had more than 5$... spend 'em as soon as I earn 'em 😂 5mo

janeycanuck @Clwojick @nute Thanks, I‘m really excited for all of them! Turns out, not buying books for months really helps you hone in on what you are really interested in! 5mo
janeycanuck @llwheeler haha! 2500 for $5, right? The $100 was 37000 - much better bang for my buck! Also, I found that once I hit about 10k, they just stopped asking if I wanted to redeem so I didn‘t have the temptation. 5mo
llwheeler @janeycanuck hmm good to know! That is a much better deal... i'll have to try and resist next time I get that notification 5mo

I'm not even sure where to start.

This entry book was just too much. The writing was amateurish and the plot was just a bit to convenient. And the characters where just plain stupid.

If it wasn't for my resoluteness to finish each book before giving my opinion I would not have finished it at all.

Next up on my stack of books I‘m hoping to get through this weekend! I have the physical book as well, so I‘ll tackle this one using both methods.

Have any of you read this one? What did you think?
#BookishWeekend

hannahx I enjoyed it. I thought it was well written. There are times it was a bit slow, like the author was trying to develop the characters but never really got there; but in the end, I was happy. 5mo
lele1432 I have the physical copy of this and have started it a few times, liked what I read, but each time for reasons unrelated to the actual book, I put it down. Hope to read it in full this year! 5mo
Victoriahoperose This was a good one. Definitely had some good twisty parts and kept me guessing. It moved super fast too. I didn‘t feel like it had many down points. 5mo
