Eloise is a little girl who lives at The Plaza Hotel in New York. She is not yet pretty but she is already a Person. She is interested in people when they are not boring. If you take her home with you, you will always be glad you did.

My grandma read the Eloise books to me. Eloise lives at The Plaza Hotel in New York and is precocious. I loved her dearly (although I do remember thinking Eloise in Moscow was a bit boring).

I had never read Eloise. What a funny little character.. spoiled but in a far fetched silly way. 😜 I am just glad im not in charge of her.

Um, not really sure how to take this one. On one hand, pretty much nailed the personality of a 6 year old. Other hand, I can‘t imagine reading this to a child and they being very interested. I could be wrong, but... #rorygilmorereadingchallenge #bookspinbingo

Butterfinger My child, currently 9, loves Eloise. I have read those books a million times. In our copy, there is a page that opens out to show Eloise's map or journey of the elevator and floors. We have spent hours on just that page. Nahnee!!! 3y
Sarahreadstoomuch @Butterfinger this had that too - which was pretty cool. I‘m glad that kids still like it! It‘s a classic for sure, but I wondered. 3y

Eloise is fantastically mischievous. I feel bad in a way that she doesn't have any other children to play with. The fact that she lives in the Plaza can't help. They seem to cater to her every whim. She seems to be living her best life running amuck around the Plaza.

Eloise is a picture book written by Kay Thompson with drawings by Hilary Knight. This book has a very limited amount of words on each page. Some have more than others, though. The pictures mainly tell the story. The main character, Eloise, is shown doing many different things relatable to kids.

I‘d forgotten about spunky little Eloise. So glad to hang out with her again today.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Who doesn't love Eloise?? I've always thought it sounded like a hoot to run rampant in a hotel. I especially love my copy as I purchased it at the gift store in the Plaza Hotel.

AmyG One of my most favorites. 6y
rubyslippersreads Who doesn‘t love room service? 😄 6y
AlaMich I had this as a kid. I read and reread it constantly. I loved it but never grasped the idea of living in a hotel. 6y
mrp27 @AlaMich I felt the same, seemed like such a wild idea to live in a hotel. 6y

Thought I'd give it a go (as I mostly read non-fic in childhood). Ebook formatting is odd. With its mandatory horizontal two page layout, everything is so tiny! Must try on larger device.

Leftcoastzen Love her ! A dear friend of mine gave me the complete stories in a hardcover book , I treasure it.Think you would benefit from a more traditional format. 6y
IamIamIam I've never read this either! I'm doing a lot more middle grade in the last few years than I have since I was about 8! Lol 6y
rubyslippersreads ❤️ Eloise! There‘s a rumor she was based on Liza Minnelli. 😊 6y

Congrats on your milestone and thank you for the giveaway!

Ah, it got a little cut off but oh how my daughter and I loved Eloise. I had gotten a book for her signed by Hilary Knight, illustrator of the Eloise books.

GondorGirl I'm so jealous of your signed copy! I read this book with my mom when I was little too. ❤ 6y

Eloise is a mischievous but charming six year old who lives on the top floor of The Plaza Hotel in New York City. She spends her days hanging out with the staff and other guests of the hotel. Now wouldn‘t that be fun and who wouldn‘t like to be in her shoes for a day?

vkois88 Great choice! ❤ I love the Eloise books. Definitely debated using that name while pregnant 😊 6y
mrp27 Love Eloise. The Plaza Hotel in NYC had an adorable gift shop that featured Eloise, where naturally I bought my copy of the book. They remodeled a few years back and I don't know if it's still there. 6y

I'm Readathoning under my warm Chicago Bears blanket this morning at #Hour 9 of #24in48. This is the oldest children's book I own. I wanted to read a book published the year I was born and found this at a garage sale for a dollar. 🙌🏻
P.S. I also grew up with Shari Lewis (Lamb Chop!) and Captain Kangaroo, and I'm still a kid at heart. 😁❤️

PurpleyPumpkin Looks like you‘ve gotten a great start for the readathon! Glad to see you‘re snuggled up with some great reading material. 📚 6y

So, this was returned to the library today, and there were all kinds of ooh's and ahh's as I scanned it in 😆👏🏻. I love book lovers--I feel a connection, ya know? Bet you liked this book as a kid too, right? 😉 #LitsyLovesLibraries

AndreaReads I wanted to name my (someday) daughter Eloise! But my husband had a crazy ex-girlfriend named Ellie, so I'll probably lose that one. Oh well. Maybe my next puppy can be Eloise! 7y

I remember absolutely adoring Eloise as a little girl, so I was delighted when I had a chance to reread it this weekend to the sweet 3-year-old who made me an auntie. I've literally been waiting for this for the entire 3 years she's been on this planet! And I was super grateful she doesn't know how to read yet, since I had to make major edits! (Apparently this really was written for "precocious grownups" ?) @mrsmarch

mrsmarch Hard to believe we are #litposting about the same 3 year old this weekend! 😁 7y
SheilaChew I loved reading this to my kids when they were little too! 7y
Pinkmeghan @mrsmarch at least I heavily edited Eloise's hijinks! We skimmed right over pretending to be sick for example! 7y
Pinkmeghan @SheilaChew it was so fun! I had forgotten a lot of it! 7y
