Standard of excellence maintained. Fairy tale noir with about the same ratio of scandalous machinations, sex and violence seen in the first book in the series. Pleasantly surprised by the turn to full lore mode in the last illustrated story and even more so by the short story included at the end. 1/2

Fables version of Robin Hood: Less Errol Flynn, More 'Green Arrow and Hulk Hogan had a muscle-y baby'. 💪🏹

I've been reading this series for a few months now. The TV show Once Upon a Time is loosely based on these characters. Prince #Charming isn't as dreamy in this series as he is in the Disney movie. He's a bit selfish and very narcissistic.

2/6: I always think of comics to mean anything marvel and DC and “American“ in style. When I say American I'm also thinking 'back in the day'. Nowadays the styles are more diverse. But anything that looks to imitate how real people look I dub as comics. Panels are also styled in boxes and are read L to R

I don't read comics bc I don't like this style

I hate to be a negative nancy but I hated this for being so ironically *mundane* Serves me right for trying this before another Sandman.

I have my stack ready for the #letsgetgraphicweeklongmarathon ! I am planning on finishing Fables, a series I've been savoring for several months. Also, Saga is so addictive I waited for the release of volume 8 before I read volume 7.

Saturday plans. It's been a month since I've read Fables. It'll be great to be back in that world.

Fables gets better with each volume. I read volume 4 last night & it easily features some of the greatest art & storytelling I've ever read in a graphic novel.

I've always loved #mythology, but my true love when it comes to reading is fractured fairy tales. I'm building my collection, but I've read every trade of Willingham's "Fables" but the last two -- I don't want the series to end! ?#aprilbookshowers

Book 2 wasn't as great as 1. Mostly back story. I still sat down a finished it in about an hour.

So I am not usually one to read comic books, but my boyfriend's dad lent me this one and I am loving it so far! finished the first volume and about to go to the second! I may ask him to lend me the whole collection! this is pretty much a darker, funnier Once Upon a Time ( in fact since the comic is way older than the show - the show kinda rips off the comic tbh). definitely recommend
