Dating Game
Dating Game | Danielle Steel
In her 57th bestselling novel, Danielle Steel brilliantly chronicles the roller-coaster ride of dating the second time aroundand tells a captivating story of the surprises one woman encounters when shes thrust into the terrifying, exhilarating world of the Dating Game. Paris Armstrong never saw it coming. With two grown children and a lovely home in Connecticut, Paris was happy with her marriage, her family, her life. So when her husband of twenty-four years said they needed to talk, Paris couldn t imagine what he was about to say. I want a divorce, Peter tells her. Just like that, the husband she adored had dumped her for a younger woman. And just like that, Peter and his thirty-one-year-old lover had made their plans for their future, leaving Paris to pick up the pieces of a shattered life. Within days, Peter was gone. And Paris was left to figure out how she intended to get through the next day, let alone the rest of her life. The task could not have been more painful. First came the tears. Then the excruciating attempts by well-meaning friends to fix her up with men who paled in comparison to Peter. Worse yet, she still loved him. Finally, Paris realized she was in a fight for her very survival. Drastic measures were called for. Even her shrink agreed. It was time to moveas far away as possible, just after Peter remarried. Paris had never felt, or been, more alone. Saying good-bye to the world she knew and loved, Paris heads west, to San Francisco, and discovers being single in a world full of men who were too young, too old, too married, or too good to be true. For Paris, the list seemed endless...the charming commitment-phobe...the drunken Neanderthal...the young Frenchmanso adorably sexy she almost forgot about his age, and did, for a while. With her dating track record veering between disappointing and disastrous, and her daughter now engaged to a man Pariss age, Paris finally comes to the conclusion that romance is not in her future. Thats when her small circle of offbeat, loving friends becomes more important than ever before. And a decision Paris makes only for herself changes her life once more. The secret, she discovers finally, is in finding the gifts in lifes unexpected twists and turns, and turning despair into freedom and loss into joy. In a poignant, wickedly funny novel about getting dumped and getting over it, about tackling life with both courage and laughter, Danielle Steel explores what it means to start over, whether you wanted to or not, and finding something better than you had before. Pickpick

It‘s been a lot of years since I read a Danielle Steel book and I forgot how much I enjoy her writing. Dating Game was such a refreshing reminder that life may not always turn out how you expected, but that doesn‘t mean it isn‘t how it‘s meant to be and that even with tragedy there are blessing. Very glad I took a chance with this author again.

What‘s the worst thing you could say to me on a first date? Wait for it... “I would read books too, but I don‘t have that kind of free time.” And he‘s a teacher! Make the time bra! Next!

#SMDH #loveslost

HOTPock3tt Some people act like people who read have “all this free time” when they themselves spend HOURS and hours watching football games basketball games etc 🙄🙄🙄 I just want to say dude: THAT‘S where you reading time went... (edited) 6y
hermyknee BYEEEE! 6y
hermyknee I wish I could like this 1,000 times! 6y

BlameJennyJane Exactly @HOTPock3tt !! I‘m totally cool if someone isn‘t into reading books... but to act as though it is a lesser way to spend ones time? Nope! Lol 6y
BlameJennyJane @hermyknee 🤣🤣🤣 so true. Buh bye! Lol 6y
HOTPock3tt @BlameJennyJane ikr!! It doesn‘t matter to me either if people are into reading or not but I feel like don‘t INSULT me because I do read by claiming I somehow have “all this free time” (edited) 6y
hermyknee @BlameJennyJane also, what kind of teacher is he? Doesn‘t he know if he doesn‘t read he‘s only giving half an education? (I‘m a teacher, so I‘m freaking out over here) 6y
2BR02B "If you can't make time to read, I can't make time for you." ? I want that on a shirt! 6y
ReadingsByTheC Preach! 6y
LiterRohde @hermyknee “Teaching reading and writing is for the English Department.” That is a common sentiment at my school. So much so that the Eng Dept, who manages the student portfolios, stopped accepting papers from other classes. Crap papers were labeled as B or C papers. 6y
BlameJennyJane @2BR02B me too!!! I‘d pay big money for that shirt. 6y
BlameJennyJane @ReadingsByTheC 😇🙏🏼😇 6y
BlameJennyJane @hermyknee he‘s a SPED teacher. And he loves what he does and he‘s a super nice guy... but come on! Lol 6y
BlameJennyJane @LiterRohde why do that do that? So frustrating when responsibility is shifted like that! And I‘m not surprised the English Dept had to go to such lengths... not anymore I‘m not. 🙁 6y
Q84 @BlameJennyJane Oh I hate that! @HOTPock3tt is right. I've been told this then before they left they said "well I better get home before my show comes on. I don't wanna to miss it" 6y
Q84 I've also been told " why would you read a book. Anything you can get out of a book you can get much fast on tv" smh 6y
Beachesnbooks Ughhhh I agree, that's the worst!! Bet he finds time to watch TV 😂 6y
Trashcanman @HOTPock3tt exactly I hear "where do you find the time to read" all the time. It's bullshit! 6y
Trashcanman Smack him in the face with a Dickens book! 6y
BlameJennyJane @Trashcanman but the poor book! 😜 6y
Trashcanman @BlameJennyJane LOL that's why I said Dickens, this way it'll actually serve a meaningful purpose. @kaye knows what I'm thinking. 6y
BlameJennyJane @Trashcanman & @kaye is sounds like this may be the best approach for maximum suffering... 6y
Kaye @Trashcanman Don‘t start on Dickens again tonight. Any book would serve the purpose of knocking somebody upside the Head. All I can say is, this guy must be a **** poor teacher if he doesn‘t read, and to make readers sound like less-than-stellar people because they do it in their free time, that means he‘s not dating material. I can hook you up with the geezer with the blue hair I posted about today. He might read. 6y
Trashcanman Dickens took from my life and it owes me! @kaye 6y

We're about to get real personal here Litsy but I feel like only you guys will understand.

My friends are trying to convince me to date, so I went on Bumble. Got asked what my ideal date was 😂😂😂 Anyone else with me on this? #booknerdproblems

OrangeMooseReads Sounds fabulous to me 7y
pilardib I'm with you! Book dates should be standard by now 😭 hahaha 7y
maximoffs @OrangeMooseReads @pilardib RIGHT?? He went "Interesing. I like Coffee." Has it become too apparent my life revolves around books?? 7y

BkClubCare I think a bookstore date would be awesome! (As someone married to a nonreader for 29 yrs LOL) 7y
maximoffs @BkClubCare I don't know how you do it 😂😂 7y
BkClubCare @steverogers - easy. He doesn't mind me reading all the time. Also, he sometimes (rarely) reads and I swear he read EVERY freakin' classic in HS that I didn't read. He had an amazing English teacher from I can gather. (edited) 7y
BkClubCare My hub would take me on a bookstore date - he would look at all the cookbooks. He loves to cook so... works for us 7y
KimmyM I wish my husband would buy me books and take me on a bookstore date!! I love that idea! 7y
maximoffs @BkClubCare hey as long as it works for you! Also yum..cookbooks. @KimmyPingwing RIGHT??? I totally thought he'd go for it too 7y
LiteraryinLawrence About 3.5 years ago, my first date with @wanderer15 was to a bookstore halfway between where we each lived (about 4 hours apart). The bookstore's selection ended up being terrible, actually, but we still go back every year!💚 7y
AreeshaBilal I don't date so I can't say, but I say give it a shot. 7y
AmyG That's a GREAT first date. Last time I went to a bookstore wih my husband...he left me there because he couldn't find me. 😳 7y
CrowCAH I agree; bookstore and a bought book! But a book you'd like, not their favorite. 7y
Amandajoy I recently had a great first date - we went to dinner & after he asked if there was anything else I wanted to do. I said there was a B&N across the street. He took me & bought me a book despite the fact he doesn't care much for reading. 7y
8little_paws This is great!! I'm single too. I've given up on dating though. Good luck out there!! 7y
Chelleo How is this not everyone's ideal date? 7y
Laalaleighh I went on a bookstore date once and then we took our books and read in Boston commons before going to dinner. It was lovely. Highly recommend. 7y
Error404 Definitely my ideal kinda date! 7y
batsy This sounds like a perfect date. I've said this before to people and so many people, as it turns out, are not readers 🤔 7y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I'm behind in the times I guess... about to google Bumble.... 😳😂 7y
PennyPistol Just add coffee and voila, perfect dream date. 📚+☕️=❤️ 7y
Christyco125 In Denver there is a bar that sells books, called ... Book Bar. So I don't see why a first date couldn't be conducted in a bookstore or any other bookish place. Especially if it's part of who you are. 7y
Jess_Read_This 💕What a perfect first date 7y
stacybmartin This sounds amazing - though I haven't found an online date like this yet! 🤞🏼 7y
maximoffs @AreeshaBilal he replied that he wanted to get coffee 😭@AmyG hahahahahahahahaha I love this. @CrowCAH YES see exactly. Please. @Amandajoy LOVE THAT! @8little_paws thank you!! @Chelleo for real though... @Laalaleighh that sounds fantastic. @Error404 If only he agreed 💕 @batsy I will NEVER understand that @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 😂😂😂 it's a more feminist? I guess? Dating swipe thing 7y
maximoffs @PennyPistol I'm not even a crazy coffee drinker! So I'd be good with just the books 😂 @Christyco125 omg YES PLEASE!! I want to go!! @Jess_Read_This my thoughts exactly @stacybmartin Hopefully it works out 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 7y
AreeshaBilal @steverogers I say get coffee and take it from there. Who knows? Maybe you'll bring them over to the dark side. 7y
CaliforniaCay Why not have your first date at a bookstore that sells coffee? Sounds like a win win to me 🤗 7y
Velvetfur That would be so perfect as a first date, I've even sometimes looked around at people in bookshops in the hope of finding a book nerd like me and in future we'd tell people how we met at a bookshop....but it never happened. Maybe us book nerds are just meant to be solitary creatures, even those in relationships - being solitary with their books...maybe.... I've given up on finding anyone now though. Books for me instead! 7y

On a date with my husband. We went... To the Library!!

Emilyrjones22 Find me a man to take me to the library! ❤️ 7y
Books88 @Emilyrjones22 I wonder if you could just stalk the library and see if any come around. And it's totally acceptable to loiter in the library because you could be reading or "studying"! 7y
Emilyrjones22 Ha, good advice 😉 7y
