Finally finished exams (yay!!!) so now it‘s time to get back into reading (double yay!!!)
An absolutely fantastic collection of literary haikus, I don‘t think I stopped laughing the whole way through!
This one was a nice change of pace and I learnt a whole lot more about wallpaper restoration than I ever thought I would 😂
A great look at the importance of memories, knowing when to try to fix things, and when the past should give way to the present. The only thing that really let it down was the ending which left way too much unsaid for my liking
I love a good retelling and this one was amazing! Pride and prejudice from the perspective of the servants definitely gave a fresh opinion of the actions of the Bennets and the times that they lived in. It was interesting to see the different views and experiences of the different classes within the one household. It was also nice to see that Mrs. Bennet remained as impractical as ever if not more so 😂
"What could he and she really know of each other, since it was his duty, as a 'decent' fellow, to conceal his past from her, and hers, as a marriageable girl, to have no past to conceal?"
Absolutely loved it (especially all the commentary on society) and who could go past a book with such gorgeous endpapers? ?
"And Emma tried to find out what one meant exactly in life by the words felicity, passion, rapture, that had seemed to her so beautiful in books"
I absolutely loved the book and I absolutely hated Madame Bovary herself for her many self-indulgent actions that ultimately were to the detriment of everyone around her. While her feelings of powerlessness were understandable, she seemed like a woman that nothing would ever be enough for...
