Healthier Together
Healthier Together: Get in the Kitchen with Your Partner, Friends, Or Coworkers--Look and Feel Amazing | Liz Moody
11 posts | 1 to read
Healthier Together is all about nourishing and cooking for your body and your soul--and the best way to accomplish that is with another person. Food writer and health blogger Liz Moody once followed trendy diets and ate solely for fuel, not for flavor. That changed when she met her soon-to-be-boyfriend and they started cooking nutrient- and vegetable-rich meals. She not only fell in love with food again, but she also discovered that setting goals and sticking to them is easier and more gratifying when paired with someone else. Mincing garlic and sauting onions together eventually led the couple to marriage--proving that good food really is the universal connector! These 100+ flavor-packed recipes are designed to be cooked and enjoyed by two people, plus they're all gluten-free, dairy-free, and plant-centered. They include homemade alternatives for all the foods you love to share, such as brunch, takeout, and sweet treats. Indulge in Cardamom Banana Bread Pancakes with Candied Coffee Walnuts, Cornflake "Fried" Chicken, General Tso's Cauliflower, and Chocolate Tahini Brownie Bites. Pick your partner--near or far--and get ready to get healthy.

#BFC2022 Mid-month question-health apps? Yes, I use a bunch! My favorites are My Fitness Pal and apple watch+fitness tracking app. I could not have lost the 60 pounds that I have in the last 16 months without them! My fitness pal is free and helps me track my food and exercise. For me, it has all been about calories in/calories out. I‘m julsmarshall there to if you want to friend me! @wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 awesome progress! 🙌🏻 2y

Joining in on #BFC2022 in hopes it helps me stay on track and adjust, not abandon, my efforts when something isn't working.

Coming out of Covid, I am going to be realistic with my goals so I don't overdo it:

Read 8 books
Finish 12 DDPYoga workouts
Make 2 new to me healthy recipes

@wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn Welcome! Great goals! 🙌🏻👏🏻 2y

March:
5/4 books ✔️
1/1 nonfiction ✔️
10K steps a day ✔️

April:
6 books 📚
1 nonfiction 🌿
10K steps 🔥
Floss every other day 😬

Absolutely baffled that I actually managed those 10K every day. Got absolutely obsessed with WorldWalking and it /really/ helped. Pulled myself out of my slump towards the end of the month and actually wanted to read, helped along by my competitive streak and #20in4. Due to a mysterious spike in heartrate (cont.)

okthislooksbad I'm not allowed to do anything more than walking, and even that can sometimes get my heartrate aaaaallll the way up, so I'm limiting my physical activity to just walks until I get bloodwork done next week to possibly figure out why. As to the flossing, I am... bad at it. Need to get into a consistent habbitb😂 This has been a long tale, thanks for sticking around! ❤️😂 #bfc21 3y
wanderinglynn Great goals! 🙌🏻 but I hope nothing is seriously wrong. 💜 3y

Thank you SO much @wanderinglynn for bringing back #bfc21! ❤️

My bookish goal for January is to read two ARC's - I'm terrible with leaving them until the last minute, but no more! I'd also like to read more nonfiction this year, so one of those in January would be great!

As for fitness, I'm keeping it simple and aiming for doing Adrienne's January challenge as many days as possible, as well as 8K steps a day. 💪

wanderinglynn Great goals! 🎉 And Team BFC21 will be here to cheer you on. 3y

#bfcr3 week 4 check-in! I actually ran 3 times this week, so I gave myself credit for improving my average by adding to last week. I‘m hoping to do 3 runs this week too! I really like the Audible series I‘m doing. I hope everyone‘s had a happy, healthy week! #goteam

Megabooks Awesome!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5y

cobwebmoth Awesome job! 5y
tjwill @KathyWheeler Thanks! It is Half Marathon Training by Move With, narrated by Katie Barrett. 5y
bromeliad Yay, good job!! I'm trying to get in some runs, too. Though they're only like a mile before I'm dying 🤣 5y
wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 5y
tjwill @bromeliad Thanks! That‘s how I was too, when I started getting back into running. I couldn‘t even run a mile without stopping. I used Couch to 5K app to help increase my distance, and now I love running. 5y
tjwill @wanderinglynn Thanks! Accountability helps! 5y
bromeliad @tjwill That's awesome! I've never been able to get to the point where I love running, but maybe if I stick with it long enough that'll happen! 5y

Week 3 check-in. Made my steps goals 6/7 days; did yoga three times including teaching it at my work retreat! 🧘‍♀️; brought my lunch to work; meditated each evening; and finished 3 books bringing my total to 10/12. On Monday I‘m starting to run with two friends and am excited to have that set each week. #bfcr2 #bfc

#BookFitnessChallange #BFC #BFCr2

My #BFC goals!

1 reading goal, 2 exercise goals, 1 diet goal and I have also added an extra goal (I hope this is ok!) to try and slowly organise my space to help me feel more organised/at peace mentally. So kind of a mental health goal?

Slightly apprehensive, but let‘s do this!!

@wanderinglynn

sprainedbrain I had never heard of slimming world... that looks interesting! 5y
wanderinglynn Great goals! But like @sprainedbrain I‘m curious as to what slimming world is. 5y
BookwormAHN Nice goals! I'm also curious about what slimming world is 😺 5y

Chrissyreadit Slimming world? Great goals! 5y
LazyOwl Great goals. Maybe you can do a shelfie when you're finished. 5y
Hufflepuffle @sprainedbrain @wanderinglynn @BookwormAHN @Chrissyreadit I think it might just be a U.K. thing? It‘s a weight loss group which gives you a diet to follow with loads of recipes and advice to help you stick to it. You go for a weekly weigh in & to receive support and advice from your group! The diet is pretty simple, lots of fruit and veg and limited treats but it helps you build healthy habits rather than the awful diets I have tried in the past! 5y
Hufflepuffle @LazyOwl Yes I will do! My book shelves are desperate to be organised and I have a Harry Potter shelf to sort out! 5y
Chrissyreadit Thanks for explaining @Hufflepuffle 5y
wanderinglynn @Hufflepuffle @Chrissyreadit it sounds similar to Weight Watchers. 5y
Hufflepuffle @wanderinglynn Yes! Very similar. 5y
