Spent the afternoon cleaning and watching three episodes of The Movies that Made Us on Netflix, all about the making of three iconic horror movies! Really, really fascinating and pretty funny (the way they present it). #teamslaughter #scarathlon2021

Not a book, but very strong storytelling - if your theater has Peter Jackson's They Shall Not Grow Old, it plays again Dec. 27 and is a remarkable experience. Made up entirely of WWI footage w/color & sound restored, no academic narration, just veterans' voices sharing stories. Absolutely worth the price of 3D, and stay after the credits to hear him share about making the film. Realistic and human w/o being gratuitous. https://youtu.be/IrabKK9Bhds

Signed up for this swap as it sounds like fun for the whole family! My husband (the film buff) is already researching options...

Thought you guys would find this link helpful. This is a list of the books (98, but the title says 100) that are being made into movies. There are quite a few on here that are on my TBR and some I might add to it. And the other link is a list of books-movies in 2018.

@BookBabe and I are about to see "Passengers"! In 3D ???. Anyone see it yet? Is this film based on a book or short story?

GeorginaCrossAuthor Please let us know if you liked it. Am thinking about going this weekend, although Hidden Figures looks amazing. 7y
TaylorMay Haven't seen it yet but I work at a Cinemark theater and I recognize all of that lol! Enjoy! 7y
OriginalCyn620 I've seen it and really enjoyed it, though I have no idea if it's based on a book or story. I guess I didn't pay much attention to the opening credits...the thought of seeing Chris Pratt was foremost in my mind!😉 7y

MeganAnn Oooo that one looks good! 😉 7y
TheLibrarian I thought it was alright. Thought there would be more to it. Hope you enjoyed it! 7y
suomi I've seen it and liked it. I thought the end was a bit rushed. 7y
MyNamesParadise I'm not a big fan of JLaw (she's a good actress but find her real life personality irritating) love Chris Pratt but heard it ended too quickly. 7y
BraveNewBooks So just my two cents: we're not seeing passengers because Chris Pratt's character endangers JLaw's & changes her entire life for literally no other reason than he thinks she's hot and he feels entitled to try to get her to sleep with him. That entitlement is a good summary of rape culture. :-/ Moreover, her character doesn't have any skills or abilities to help save the station--she's window dressing. Love both actors, but hate the sexism. 7y
MrBook @GeorginaCrossAuthor It was *very* good! Like an extended "Twilight Zone" episode. Minimal atmosphere. Great acting. Excellent story. Visionary in terms of imagining future technology and styles. 4.5 stars ??? 7y
