This one was a struggle. I probably would have bailed if I didn‘t feel the strongest obligation to finish it for #horrorpost #litsyscreams. I do really wish all books could have the diversity of characters that this one does though. We need more representation of diverse sexuality and mental illnesses. âï¸âï¸
I‘ll get this one back to you probably next week @SkeletonKey

Callemarie @TheBookAddict @SkeletonKey @Tiffy_Reads @collegecatlady hey guys I just wanted to follow up on where we were with the book exchange. I think we‘re down to one more book to read but I haven‘t gotten anything. (edited) 6y
wellreadredhead I have @SkeletonKey ‘s choice that I finished and will get mailed back to its home soon! @Callemarie I believe you are waiting on my choice, 6y
TheBookAddict @Callemarie I will be mailing a book to you on Monday. 6y

Off to a great start with the #8intwo with Jojen sleeping on my stack of reads 😂 #catsoflitsy #bookbed

Suzze I love sleeping cat pics. And those aren‘t the easiest to get as the cat always knows you‘re moving and opens his/her eyes! 6y
wellreadredhead @Suzze Jojen is such a fat baby that he typically doesn‘t wake for anything unless he‘s ready to get up! 😂 That‘s why it‘s always so easy to snap a photo of him. 6y

I hate to say it but overall I just wasn‘t a fan of this book. It had its moments in places but the thoughts of imp were just too all over the place for me to even follow at times. And obviously I understand the mind of someone with schizophrenia is probably not always coherent but I feel like it distracted me too much from Imp telling a story. @collegecatlady this one will be on its way to you Monday #litsyscreams

@Callemarie it‘s on its way, I know I said I‘d get it to the post office this past Friday but I kept on forgetting. I remembered to take it with to work today so I could stop at the post office after work. I sent it by media mail, so I‘m crossing my fingers and hoping this time it gets to you. Last time I sent it through media mail it got returned to me. Let me know when it gets there. 😊 #horrorpost #litsyscreams

Ok, so I had a hard time getting into it. I liked the story but had a hard time with the story telling. It was like reading a journal and there was quite a bit of repetition and rambling before getting to the point. I know that the style was meant to show us how Imp‘s mind works, but it was still rough. I am also a bit confused as to what really happened in the end. #horrorpost #litsyscreams
@Callemarie this will be headed to you on Friday 🤞ðŸ½

You guys! It‘s finally hot up here in northern Illinois (an hour or so away from Wisconsin)... and it‘s also very humid. It‘s been in the 70s and raining on and off since yesterday so my hair has been super frizzy, I have the box fan on, and a 24 oz bottle full of ice and water handy. Anyway, after tomorrow it‘ll be 3 weeks until I‘ll be off for the summer! It‘s my first year having the summer off so I‘m excited!!!

Texreader I love to hear how different seasons affect southerners differently from northerners. 70s is almost chilly here in south Texas but 40s and 50s just about takes us completely down in the winter—we‘ll be in heavy coats and gloves and hats. So to hear 70s is hot makes me wish for those few days at 70ish we get down here. 6y
TheBookAddict @Texreader 😂 same! As I was posting this I thought to myself that a lot of littens would think that my “it‘s hot and in the 70s†comment is silly. We were just a little chilly early last week (30s-40s) and the 70s is a big jump from that. We‘re surviving and enjoying it while it lasts. To us it seems like we only have summer for a short month or two, at the most, each year. (edited) 6y

FeastOfFiction @Texreader I‘m from Oklahoma and I usually need to wear a jacket when it‘s 70! That is funny how different our climates are and how we acclimate to them. 6y
TheBookAddict @FeastOfFiction oh my! We usually pack up our jackets once the 50s start being consistent. 6y
Texreader @TheBookAddict @FeastOfFiction I‘m loving these posts. That was a huge leap from 30-40 to 70! I follow a lot of Norway Instagram posters (hubby from Norway) and today one noted “it is almost spring!†Now that it‘s May, that means summer is here in Texas! I â¤ï¸ Litsy to read everyone‘s reactions to weather. I never experienced it quite so first-hand until Litsy came along. 6y
Texreader And congrats on your first upcoming summer off!! 6y
TheBookAddict @Texreader thanks! I‘m definitely looking forward to it. 6y

Getting ready to let these two #brats loose in our living room while I read. The stay in their playpen while we have dinner. We don‘t need them wreaking havoc while we eat. They‘re only 4 mos. old, they‘re growing quite fast!

Yes, yes you are. Please get to the actual story!!! I want to know what happened!

I know that the author is trying to get us inside Imp‘s head and have us experience how Imp processes things and is trying to deal with whatever happened but repeating this sentiment over and over again in different words is getting on my nerves. Ugh! Sorry guys, I‘m struggling here. Liking what I know so far about the story just not liking the style, I guess.

JoRead It's a let down when you like the plot but the "voice" of the author is just not that good ?? 6y
TheBookAddict @JoRead yep, I‘m hoping that it gets better. Less of the rambling and more of the story telling. 6y

I‘ve got “hungry eyes†just staring me down. #dogsoflitsy #MomoToles #mybrat #puppyeyes #hungryeyes

Hmmm...This one has been kinda hard to get into. It‘s a bit confusing. It‘s written in the first person point of view and it randomly has sentences here and there that are in the third person and it‘s all from the main character‘s point of view. #horrorpost #litsyscreams

“We never went to church, because my mother was a lapsed Roman Catholic, and always said I‘d be better off steering clear of Catholicism, if only because it meant I‘d never have to through the trouble of eventually lapsing.â€

Made me chuckle...I was raised Catholic and was not allowed to miss a single day of church. I don‘t attend church now. I still believe in God, but I don‘t believe in religion. I guess I‘m a lapsed Catholic as well. 🤷ðŸ½â€â™€ï¸

A passage from ‘The Drowning Girl‘. So far, this book is rather interesting. It‘s point of view, through India‘s eyes, is something that I have never seen before in any sort of media.

Day 21 #readingwomenmonth - mental health. The MC in this book has schizophrenia. Also, this is the second time I'm using this book for a prompt/photo challenge. I can't pass up the opportunity to shout about this book and how it is so good and if you haven't read it what are you waiting for. Maybe I'm due for a reread...

I love #unreliablenarrators and this book was the first one that came to mind. This book is so, so, so good, it... I can't really describe it. But I highly recommend it to anyone who likes literary or speculative fiction that is dark, twisty, artistic, with the tendancy to knock your feet right out from under you. In the best way. #maybookflowers

Andrea4 May need to add this to the stack- I love dark and twisty :) 7y

This book is amazingly complex and brilliant so far. I've been a fan of her short fiction for years, but it only lately occurred to me to try her novels. I shouldn't have waited.

Genrebending This is probably my favorite book of hers, and I love most of Kiernan's works. 8y

Pickpick

âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ we keep our ghosts alive and sometimes we invent them altogether, we give them to other people and we pretend we have exorcised them and sometimes a story is not factual but it is true. this book is incredible and you should read it
