I‘m on my way to my first residency at my MFA program!
Maggie‘s story, of the three, was the most compelling for me. I‘m glad that Taddeo was able to keep the right names in this narrative because I liked being able to look up the case and read about it after finishing the book. Maggie‘s story was resounding and so important for Taddeo to put in the open like this. Slone and Lina‘s stories were important, but no one deserves justice like Maggie does. #botm
Here are my #top6reads from the first half of the year! These have all been five star reads for me but the tagged book has been my favorite of the year so far!
This novel is arresting and heartbreaking. It is not overly emotional, but finds a way to be just the right amount. I cannot praise this novel more. This should be required reading. I have never read a more compelling, intense, and accurate view of eating disorders and the support systems behind recovery.
Book #2 down at just under 5 hours!
#24b4Monday #readathon #arc
First book down for the #24b4Monday #readathon! This was a good one. It was a detective story with two interesting lead characters with an underlying social commentary. Some of my favorite things! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just missed catching the milestone!
Finally getting around to reading this classic. Baldwin is a favorite of mine from his non-fiction, but I‘ve surprisingly never read his novels. Here‘s to changing that!
This is one of the best novels I have read in a long time. I find it difficult for literary fiction novel to be nearly perfect but this novel is. I can barely bring my thoughts together to write a review. The prose is masterful and timely, covering themes of corruption, wealth, family, and interpersonal relationships including LGBT ones. Please read this one. It is so intensely beautiful.
I read the tidbits for each episode in the book after listening to them on Spotify. I only recently discovered this podcast and I‘m in love! I can‘t wait to keep going with the second book/audio combination.
Jojen wanted to pose for you all 🐱
I liked this book WAY more than I anticipated and powered my way through. Compelling, gory, and such amazing suspense. This #lmpbc pick was perfect for #GroupHorror! I know this is super early but I‘ll probably send it along next week so I make sure to not forget. One of the few five star horror reads I‘ve had in a long time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hey new #lmpbc group! I‘m super excited for our #GroupHorror and these were some of the selections I was thinking of choosing from. Have you guys read any of these? Any of these on your TBR?
And if either of you know our last member, could you let me know her username? There are a couple Littens with that name and I don‘t want to tag the wrong person!
I have been entering giveaways on #goodreads for so long and I finally won one!!
I can‘t even tell you guys how much I‘m in love with Revan. Just look at those toe beans! #catsoflitsy
This book was such a disappointment. I loved Behind Her Eyes and this one was just predictable and ridiculous. It did keep me reading but I‘d guessed everything before it happened.
On a brighter note, this is my new baby Revan! My boyfriend found him at work living in a dumpster. He seems to be about eight weeks old and he‘s settling into his new home well. 🐱 📚
It has been about three months and I wanted to go ahead and check in with everyone in the #controversialbookclub! What book do you have in your possession? Have you enjoyed the books you‘ve read so far?
I absolutely loved this novel. The characters felt SO real and I am immediately adding this author‘s other works to my TBR. I was in a slump before picking this up and this novel helped tremendously. I read this book in two sittings. Thank you so much for choosing it @Mccall0113 and I will be sending it back home soon! #lmpbc
On a rainy day, nothing‘s better than starting a new book. I‘m reading The Green Mile in the chapbook format. Looking forward to watching the movie afterwards 🍿
I started a new book subscription and I‘m not disappointed in my first month‘s surprise spoils! #usedbooksmonthly is a subscription service that is affordable and keeps books circulating and recycling! I would highly recommend it. I‘m especially excited for the LGBTQ novel on the right!!
I received the next #lmpbc books from @Reggie but Looker was my pick and it seems to have skipped over @LA_Mead
It looks like the same case with Daisy Jones. I‘m not sure exactly what happened but it looks like the mailing order got messed up?
This prequel novel definitely satisfied my cravings for season three of the show. This was a fun read detailing El‘s mother‘s experience with Brenner. Not the most eloquent writing but a read that kept me interested nonetheless! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoyed this book and its pacing immensely until the ending. I was engaged in the search for the murderer and kept turning the pages. However, I have a huge problem with the characters who are not white, straight males being the only characters demonized. I will elaborate on this in a spoiler comment for those who have read the novel. Can anyone tell me if the other novels do this same thing? If so, I am not interested in continuing the series.
While I had a really hard time reading this novel because it is so dense with description and doesn‘t have a lot of plot, I did enjoy the prose and journey in the end. I was torn on what rating to give the novel since I had to force myself to read it, but I settled on around a 3.5 or 4 stars. I apologize that this took me so long to read, but I‘ll be sending this your way tomorrow @Mccall0113 #lmpbc #groupZ
Holy moly #bookhaul!
The stack on the left is from my trip to Knoxville plus this month‘s #readersgonnaread selection from @Leigh0906
Thanks so much to @Lovesbooks87 for the birthday card as well! #jb
The stack on the right is #bookmail from #bookoutlet! What a #bookoutlethaul. I can‘t contain myself when they have a sale. 🤫
I‘m on a mini vacation that I believe is resulting in my new (rented) home! So ready to call Tennessee my home!! Pictured here is McKay‘s in Knoxville 📚
This #lmpbc book is such a nice, slow burn. However since there isn‘t too much plot, I have to read it in small chunks to enjoy it. @Mccall0113 I‘m working on it; it‘s just taking me much longer than expected to get through! #catsoflitsy
It is my pleasure to announce that I‘ll be attending New England College for my MFA in the fall. I received an offer I couldn‘t exactly turn down involving an online teaching position and scholarship. The program is low residency so I‘ll only be flying up to New Hampshire twice a year. I am also currently in the process of moving, hopefully to TN! Plans haven‘t yet been completely finalized but things are heading in the right direction! 👇🏻cont
