I like the idea behind this book, but the execution just didn‘t work for me. I felt like I was being held at a distance the whole time, so I couldn‘t truly engage with anything. Several aspects of the story felt underdeveloped, and I spent a lot of time confused while trying to understand what was happening.

So strange. I felt lost often and it was hard to stay engaged in the story. I love the cover on this one so I was disappointed that I didn‘t enjoy it more. I hope the rest of you all do though! 🌟🌟

Well I never thought I‘d read anything about a “Hair Mafia” before, but here we are 🤣 I love Sofi‘s vivid imagination and this interesting world she created. I was just left with a few questions and this did seem to drag a bit.

This has been sitting on my shelf since I think last summer so I‘m definitely excited to finally get around to it!

Today I went to listen to Sofi Oksanen. Her new book was published yesterday. Also got my copy signed. My second signed book from her. ❤ I told her I loved the themes of her books. She has a true talent of finding interesting point of views to history and current day. This new one is set to Ukraina. (It's not in the Litsy database so that's why the tag is on Norma)

Ermmmm......didn‘t hate it or love it - in fact I didn‘t understand a lot of it 🤷‍♀️ don‘t know if things were lost in translation- a lot of the time I didn‘t know what story the book was actually trying to tell.

MidnightBookGirl This World Cup has been crazy so far! Argentina abput gave me a heart attack yesterday, worrying they weren't going to get through. I was bummed the US didn't qualify (which, to be fair, they didn't deserve to after their lackluster loss to Trinidad and Tobago, hopefully our team will come together for 2022... but if not then at least we have 2026 qualification in the bag!). I'll definitely be rooting for England tomorrow! 6y

An iteresting, often strange novel from Finnish writer Sofi Oksanen. After we spent a few days in Hesinki a few summers ago, I have tried to pick up some Finnish lit in translation when I can. Such fantastic, creative, and completely unique stuff going on! In this one, powerful rumination on ownership of women's bodies, a heroine with super-powered hair, and the underground world of trade in hair extensions and surrogates. And some cool cover art!

The James Patterson one is the only series I‘m still reading of his as I like the characters. Not sure how much he‘s still writing of any of them.
