This is a reluctant pick. For me, the book was a page turner. However, I didn‘t really like Lark in either life. But, I kept reading because I was enjoying the story. So....it falls more to the pick than so-so.

I want to say right up front that I‘m very grateful that @dariazeoli gave me this book, so please don‘t hate me for my tepid rating. This is a well-written book by an excellent writer, but given the fact of my status as an #oldasdirtlitten, my opinion is perhaps shaded by my age. It is a YA book by genre, but that doesn‘t preclude my liking of it. The premise is the question of parallel lives, and the consideration of the choice ⬇️

Also, I think Lionel Shriver did it better in “The Post-Birthday World.” This is another problem for old people like me: We‘ve read older books. At any rate, the upshot might be that this novel isn‘t aimed at me, but I know that there are many other Littens who loved it, so what do I know...right? 👵🏻📚👍 5y

There are only a handful of us in the group ( that I personally interact with ) , that are in the #olderthandirt club. There may be others that don‘t mention their ages or are lurking in the shadows. I know there are lots of modern books that don‘t target my age group , so it‘s harder to find a book I like, #olderthandirt (edited) 5y

So fun to know there are others out there that are close to my age...I taught school for so long—it kept my mind young, but my body definitely feels my age. 5y

I hate selfies so be happy I‘m posting one. I think the last time I knowing did a selfie it as with @MrBook and @ReadingRover This is fresh

About me: I never wear make up. Allergies. I also have scent allergies! Oh joy. Vanilla is a big trigger. I cut my hair less than once a year, but it grows fast so when I do it gets donated. My record is 32” but most never see it because it‘s always up. (Military brat, military rules still. )

LibrarianRyan @Trashcanman sure. After about 2 minutes my face gets even reader and my eyes swell shut. It will be a great reading party. After 10 minutes the hives start. Then it‘s an all aboard itching party. Then there is the day or two hang over. It‘s lots of fun. 🤩🤪🤣. I have had to stop going to game stop. 😣. It‘s sucks. Thanks mom. 😃👁👁 5y

LibrarianRyan @GypsyKat I agree. I have a sensitive nose. I can smell things others can‘t. Not just cyinide but also free on, ac systems. It‘s all weird. The guys at work have gotten used to it almost. It makes them more crazy than it does Josh. I feel for your sister. I know how it feels. 5y

julesG Lovely to see you! I'm not allergic to scents or makeup (hardly ever wear any) but I have a very sensitive nose too. My brother often joked that I could go hunting for truffles, or become the first human drug/sniffer dog. 5y

LibrarianRyan @GypsyKat I had to look up MCS. I know a few people that have that. Mine is an overload of scent receptors. Long time ago a doc called it perfumers nose. It could eventually go away. When I get really sick or have a sinus infection things smell different. Sometimes it even clues me in I‘m getting sick. My grams lost her “sniffer” at age 50 I think. But she wasn‘t sensitive to begin with. I bet now she would be classified as MCS. 5y

LibrarianRyan @julesG oh yeah. I so get that. When I worked for Dairy Queen with my dad I could always tell him what machine was going to break down because I could smell the freeon leaks before they would cause trouble. 5y

julesG Even a cold/sinus infection doesn't stop me from smelling all sorts of things. I studied chemistry. I always hated lab practice, especially for organic chemistry. I wanted to put oil drenched tampons up my nose. 5y

Lreads With great skin like yours you don't need makeup! I use a bit of concealer at times, and I like tinted lip balm as my lips are always so dry but that's all I can handle. 5y

tonyahoswalt I am sensitive to scents, but for me they cause migraines. People always think I'm weird when I say vanilla is one of my biggest scent triggers. 5y

Bklover That scent sensitivity is fascinating- especially the freon! Hives are horrific- and you have to take enough Benadryl to kill a horse to get rid of them! 5y

ReadingRover Lol we‘re like twins. I have long ass mermaid hair that I never cut unless it‘s to donate and it grows like rapunzel‘s. Plus I always wear it up because it drives me nuts 😝. I also never wear make up. I just got my eyelashes curled & tinted because a friend of mine owns a spa but that‘s only cause they did it free & now I look like I wear make up and don‘t have to! 5y

MaleficentBookDragon I can't wear makeup either. I try every once in a while and it turns out badly. I am hyper sensitive plus have perioral dermatitis. I also have "super sniffer". It brings on migraines. 5y
