I want to say right up front that I‘m very grateful that @dariazeoli gave me this book, so please don‘t hate me for my tepid rating. This is a well-written book by an excellent writer, but given the fact of my status as an #oldasdirtlitten, my opinion is perhaps shaded by my age. It is a YA book by genre, but that doesn‘t preclude my liking of it. The premise is the question of parallel lives, and the consideration of the choice ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ taken/not taken at serious, consequential moments in life. Also, I think Lionel Shriver did it better in “The Post-Birthday World.” This is another problem for old people like me: We‘ve read older books. At any rate, the upshot might be that this novel isn‘t aimed at me, but I know that there are many other Littens who loved it, so what do I know...right? 👵🏻📚👍 5y

Kaye Dear @gradcat @Texreader @CarolynM I have said the phrase before but not sure I was the original person in here who said it. There are only a handful of us in the group ( that I personally interact with ) , that are in the #olderthandirt club. There may be others that don‘t mention their ages or are lurking in the shadows. I know there are lots of modern books that don‘t target my age group , so it‘s harder to find a book I like, #olderthandirt (edited) 5y

dariazeoli I hadn‘t heard of this book before I saw it in your stacks, and I‘m so sorry it wasn‘t better. But I‘m glad it ticked a box in a reading challenge! 👍🏻 According to the book I‘m reading now, I‘m in the #midlifecrisis age group. That explains a lot, actually 😁 5y

So fun to know there are others out there that are close to my age...I taught school for so long—it kept my mind young, but my body definitely feels my age. 5y

gradcat @dariazeoli I‘m so glad you said that. I feel really bad about mildly panning a book that was a gift, but I feel like I‘m not being fair to other Littens if I‘m not honest. Like you say, it did tick a box, and it‘s not like it was terrible or anything like that, so please know that I really appreciate getting book gifts in my email. Thank you very much! 📚👍🥰 5y
