This cosy murder mystery was seriously confused. The two murders had completely different tones and it ruined the flow for me.

I haven't read many books in this series and probably won't read anymore because Phryne Fisher is the most annoying Mary Sue style character I've encountered.

She's so amazing and seductive that even gay men have and will have sex with her. Seriously. No.

Struck down by dizziness and light headedness. Sent to bed 🤣 Slim pickings for audiobooks at my library today so gone with something cosy and forgettable. I won't feel bad if I fall asleep

Dragon I like to re-listen to favourites audio books when I‘m sick so I don‘t miss anything and don‘t have to concentrate ( usually light historical romance ). Feel better soon 💐 💚🐉 8mo

I finished the last book in my reread of the Phryne Fisher series via #audiobook and it‘s bittersweet. I really hope Kerry Greenwood writes another Phryne book one of these days! This one is good, but it‘s missing Lin Chung (😍). I‘m sad there aren‘t anymore audiobooks but I‘ve already started my reread of the Her Royal Spyness series via audiobook and I‘m loving it. 4⭐️

It‘s time to say goodbye to Phryne & gang for another year, I‘ll miss them. Please Kerry, write us another novel? Please?? You just wrote a new Corrina Chapman book, it‘s time to get back to the 20s. I love this book, you get another bit of Phrynes past & an old friend from the war. Downside was no Lin Chung & too many new faces, it got a bit confusing. But any Phryne is always better than no Phryne. Get writing Ms Greenwood, we‘re counting on you.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks What a beautiful cover 💚💚 5y
Lizpixie @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks the whole Phryne Fisher series is beautiful, I much prefer these covers to the TV series covers, though I do love Essie Davis as Miss Fisher #phryneappreciationclub (edited) 5y
LeahBergen I still need to read these. 😍 5y

So thankful to have my books this year. Being a reader saved my sanity many times in 2018 aka TheYearFromHell. So thanks to whatever made me a bookworm🙏 Down to the last book in the Phryne Fisher series & I‘ll be sad to see her go. Luckily I have over 250 books in my #MountTBR to choose from! I also want to give a huge welcome to the new followers I‘ve gained in the past week or so, I think it‘s over 70 now. I hope you enjoy the bookish goodness.

Most memorable scene in this one: Phryne debating scripture, naked setting on the side of bathtub. Happy to learn Dr Mac has a home with beautiful roses, a friend and a lover. Sadly we don't get to meet her Marie from Inverness. Also no Lin Chung, he is away on business. If this is last in series I would have liked to seen them. 🍸🎶💋

#AugustGrrrl #day4 #IndependentWomen The Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher was an independent woman in an age where they were rarer than hens teeth. Phryne didn't take crap from anybody, she more than held her own in any company, be it toffs, bohemians, communists or cops, and she did it all in high style. She did things her way & never apologized for it. Or for her sexuality. She was a 1920s Beyoncé. #phryneappreciationclub

#90sInJuly #day3 #WhattaMan Phryne's Chinese lover,Lin Chung is my pick for whatta man.Book Phryne is so different from tv Phryne,Jack is a happily married policeman & Lin Chung is Phrynes main man. After coming to his & his grandmothers aid one night, Phryne & Lin start a very sensual relationship.Even when Lin has to marry for his family honour, she becomes his "official concubine" He's gorgeous, smart, good in a fight & fantastic in bed.Woof?

JazzFeathers I've read the novel where they met. Good one. They sure have a very unique relationship 7y

#Riotgrams #day12 #SummerReads I don't really sort books by season,a good book is a good book, regardless of the weather. Summer here in Australia is over Xmas when it's either too busy outside or too damn hot to do anything except hibernate in the air conditioning. Those days,I like to read cosy crime books, mostly set in cooler climates like Britain e.g.-Daisy Dalrymple,Dame Agatha & Phryne Fisher. And magical realism novels like Garden Spells.

#MarchIntoReading #day18 #thebacksofwomen You could interpret this prompt in a few ways, but I'm just going with book covers with women's backs on them. Paranormal/romance seem to love covers like this, there were a lot more on my shelves that were basically the same thing. My favourites though are the Phryne Fisher covers, Art Deco is gorgeous, & I like the Mercy Thompson cover as well, love her tattoos! #phryneappreciationclub

Sace 😍😍😍😍 Such a pretty cover! 7y
ReadingEnvy The greenwood cover seems to be to show off the outfit while the others seem to show off the muscles and tattoos! 😜 7y
Lizpixie @ReadingEnvy exactly! You can tell the genre from the cover can't you. 7y

JazzFeathers Really envious about those two Miss Fisher books ;) 7y
thec0zy I love those Miss Fisher covers!! 😍 7y
Lizpixie @JazzFeathers @thec0zy I made sure that I got the series in the Art Deco covers. The only one that isn't is an omnibus of the 4th,5th & 6th books that has Essie Davis on the cover. 7y
kspenmoll Agree re: gorgeous Miss Fisher covers- just discovered the series ( guess where?!). Got the first at library; now I want to own them! 7y
Lizpixie @kspenmoll I have all 20 books and I'm desperately hoping she writes more🤞 7y

So sad that I've read the last book in the Phryne Fisher series. It's been a few years now, she really needs to get back writing Miss Fishers new adventures or she's gonna have some very cranky readers! Bk20 doesn't disappoint, Phryne decides to join a choir after their brute of a conductor is murdered. Filled with old lovers, revelations of Phryne spy activities during the Great War & a beautiful annoying man who thinks he's Sherlock Holmes.5⭐️

A really fun read! This was the first Phryne Fisher novel I've read, but it's the 20th in the series. I did okay with the relationships of Phryne's "family," but I'm definitely going to go back to the beginning and read in order. I had to read this because of the music theme. It's clear that Greenwood knows about choirs, so those portions of the book rang true. I'm hooked?

Karenlovesbooks Have you seen the tv series? It's very good, too! 7y
Lynnsoprano @Karenlovesbooks We have just started watching it on Netflix. We've only seen the first episode, because we don't binge-watch, and we're still finishing Doc Martin and Bletchley Circle 7y
Karenlovesbooks @Lynnsoprano I hope you enjoy it. I really liked Bletchley Circle, too! 7y

Because I'm having an outpatient procedure for my sinuses tomorrow, we moved our weekly reading and coffee from Tuesday to Monday. I usually take my current nonfiction read, but I can't put Phryne down😊

MicheleinPhilly Best wishes for a speedy recovery! ❤️ 7y
melbeautyandbooks Good luck! I had sinus surgery several years ago and I am so glad I did. I hope it goes well for you! 7y

"Silence!...The choir didn't precisely fall silent, as any choir has been yelled at by experts..."
I've never considered myself an expert at yelling, but as a choir director I guess I've done more than my share?
