4.5⭐️ I wasn‘t sure how I‘d end up feeling about this heavily influenced by The Great Gatsby themed book. But Wood made it her own, despite having the sections broken up by Great Gatsby quotes. Young writer, Louise, is swept up into the glitz of summer parties and affluent life by the Cardew siblings. It‘s a coming of age novel that fortunately has a happier ending than Gatsby does. A relaxing, escapist read.

Rich world building, superb characters, love the setting and the Pride and Prejudice vibe, plus the romance was perfect. Loved the MC and the relationships between everyone. Loved the happy ever after ending. Overall a great historical fiction.

A YA book with a strong Great Gatsby theme & a protagonist who embodies the same naivety & yearning for a different life as Cassandra from Dodie Smith‘s I Capture the Castle. Lovers of Jane Austen will also smile knowingly at the familiar squabbles of a Darcy & Elizabeth style romance. You will feel like you‘ve read it before, but you won‘t mind.

Loved this book. It was so good and a great summer read. I‘m not a big lover of historical fiction but this one was just wrote so beautifully and I couldn‘t help but get lost in all the glitz and glamour. I highly recommend this book.
