By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice was Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison...a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec ached to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie vowed never to surrender to this highland barbarian. He was everything her heart warned againstan arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks spoke of savage pleasures. And thought Kincaid's scorching kisses fired her blood, she brazenly resisted him...until one rapturous moment quelled their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatened to conquer her senses...

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

#LittensLoveRomance I was so sad to hear that one of my absolute favourite authors passed away this month. I have spent countless hours with Julie over the years and I feel as though I‘ve lost a friend. I feel as though she was one of the best for Scottish historical romances. I‘m planning on going back to reread her catalogue as tribute.

CoverToCoverGirl Same. 💔 Please tag me, I‘d definitely be interested in rereading many of her historicals. 10mo

KristiAhlers Please include me! When I first started writing, a review for one of my first books came out comparing me to her writing voice. It was the best compliment! She reached out to me and was one of the kindest people and told me she'd seen the review and had read my book and was charmed to be compared to me. To say I fan girl'd is a total understatement. I was devastated to read she'd passed away. 8mo

Reading The Bride because the Heaving Bosoms podcast is reading it. So far my reaction is mixed, but I'm overall enjoying it.

On my hook : doing a test crochet of a tank top from Crochet Highway.

My stack of pocket books 📚- I bought most of them at the book sale earlier this month. I have been looking for the tagged book thanks to a very positive review #blameitonLitsy #romantsy - I saw the JR Ward books and decided it‘s time to try the popular series

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I love the BDB series! 2y

This was such a delight! Historical romance between a Scottish Laird from the Highlands and an English Lady. Set in 1102 during the reign of King Henry and King Edgar. I loved the clashing of two different worlds and the way Alec and Jamie had to really work at finding common ground. Also loved all of the historical bits. I listened to the audiobook for well over half of the book and loved it-Rosalyn Landor narrates with beautiful accents.

Dragon Love Rosalyn Landor‘s narration. She‘s a favourite especially for historical romance novels 💚🐉 2y
intothehallofbooks @Dragon Yes! I LOVE her narration of The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley and I also love her narration of the Bridgerton books 😍 2y
Dragon Thanks 🙏 I will have to see if Libby has The Winter Sea - I like her Mary Balogh and Lisa Kleypas narrations too 2y

I loved this book!! At times I found the characters a little hard to relate with - they would feel one way yet their words would express another and it was a little frustrating. But the story was so compelling to me, I found it hard to put down! The characters eventually give in to their love of one another and I loved how they got along after that!

One thing that bugs me about the cover is the split of the word “spellbinding” -drives me nuts! 😂

#wanderingjune #castleonthehill @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB Here are some great Scottish Highland romances by Julie Garwood. They definitely have castles, on hills. The picture got cut off, but I‘ve included my husband‘s Mitchell tartan and whiskey that we picked up in Scotland this summer.

gradcat Nice thinking here 👍 5y
QueenJen You had me at "whiskey" ?? 5y
StayCurious @QueenJen 🙂 we went on a couple of whiskey tastings during our trip - I dragged my husband to so many castles, it was the least I could do! 5y

The best thing for #SummertimeBlues is a swoony romance to read by the pool.

This book makes me want to sit the author down and ask her what the hell was she thinking. The "hero", Alec, is a smug, condescending alpha male who thinks he needs to constantly remind his airhead bride Jamie of her "place" as a woman. I hate romance fiction with such horrible sexist cliches.

Mehso-so

While this book picked up in the second half, it still took me a while to get into it. I also found it cheesy and very predictable. I did however, grow to like Jamie and even Alec at some parts!
