Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas: The Film, the Art, the Vision | Frank Thompson
14 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
Timed for release just after the October 2002 release of the special edition DVD of the first ever full-length stop-motion animated feature, Tim Burton's classic Halloween tale, Nightmare Before Christmas, this profusely illustrated gift book takes readers behind the scenes, where 140 artists and technicians spent more than two years bringing Jack and his cohorts to life in this long-standing favourite. With original development art, extensive interviews, behind-the-scenes production stills, technical information and the complete lyrics of Danny Elfman engaging songs.

My last movie for the day #mistletoemaniacs #wintergames2021 +6pts

LitStephanie My city's symphony did a live soundtrack to the projected movie a few years back. Such good music! 2y
melissajayne @LitStephanie yep; there‘s an excellent documentary on how the film got made on Netflix. It‘s part of a series called The Movies that Made Us. 2y

Nightmare Before Christmas! It‘s been a movie kind of day. Hoping to do some actual reading after the nephews go to bed and my brother has the Pitt game on 😆

When people ask me what my favourite film is I usually list the first 3, so being able to give 5 is great! Stardust is mine and my partners go to film if we can't agree on anything else. It's so much fun!
🎬The Nightmare Before Christmas
🎥 The Breakfast Club
🎬Beauty and the Beast (Disney Animated)
🎥 Stardust (also LOVE the book)
🎬 Singing in the Rain (best musical ever imo)
@Bostonmomx2

monkeygirlsmama I'll give you that Singing in the Rain is an excellent musical. My favorite, however, is Moulin Rouge. Or Cats. Or Fiddler on the Roof. Or Chicago. Okay, who am I kidding? I love them all. Hahaha (edited) 7y
laurieluna @monkeygirlsmama I do love Moulin Rouge. But I have to be in certain mood to watch it. Singing in the Rain is such an upbeat happy musical that I can watch it whatever mood I'm in! 7y
laurieluna @monkeygirlsmama oh Chicago. Also a good one. Rent is also brilliant, and I can't wait for the Wicked film to come out, it was so good on stage! For an off the wall musical, have you seen Repo! The Genetic Opera? It has Anthony Stewart Head (Giles in buffy) and Sarag Brightman in. 7y

monkeygirlsmama @miralunasbooknook Ooh, Rent! I forgot that one. Yes, love that one too. Wicked was great on stage; didn't realize a film version was being made. When's that supposed to happen? I haven't heard of Repo! The Genetic Opera, but I loved Giles so would be interested to see the actor again. 7y
Laalaleighh @miralunasbooknook I've seen idina Menzel twice. I first fell on love with her as Maureen, then elphaba. She's my idol. 7y
laurieluna @monkeygirlsmama Repo! Is a bizarre one, but I love the music! They're planning a 2019 release apparently for the Wicked film. I just hope they don't change any of the songs because that's what I love the most! 7y
laurieluna @Laalaleighh I think they were right to pick her for the voice of Elsa in Frozen too, no one else could have sang that song like she did. 7y
Liatrek My son just asked to watch Nightmare Before Christmas last night. We love that movie:-) 7y
laurieluna @Liatrek I've tried to put it on for my 2 year old but he's not that interested yet. I was 4 when it came out, and loved it! 7y
Bostonmomx2 ❤️breakfast club 7y
TaylorMay Ok so have you read Stardust? If so what did you think? That was one of the very few times I enjoyed the movie more than the book! 7y
laurieluna @TaylorMay I really enjoyed the book! I do agree that this is one of those rare occasions where the film is better. Maybe because the book isn't long enough for Neil to have captured the visuals like the film did? And I love Robert de Niro's performance as Captain Shakespeare. 7y
TaylorMay Yeah that is probably it. I just didn't like either of the characters in the book. And YES Cap. Shakespeare is amazing 7y
Mamashep So love Singing In The Rain! 7y
