Good news, Littens! I have three more PT visits and then I'm getting discharged! I still have a TON more OT, as my arm is progressing but slowly. I did have a talk with my mom today about possibly applying for disability; I kind of feel like I'm giving up if I do apply, but the reality is that I may never be able to work as a nanny again. I want to wait another three months, but the process is so long, I guess I should at least consider it.
Whoo hoo! I got cleared by my PT to go without my AFO (foot brace)! And to come to PT only once a week. I still have OT twice a week, but my arm/hand is suddenly making TONS of progress. I came home from therapy and lunch with my mom and took a two hour nap. It was delightful, and though it's not even 9 pm, I'm about to turn my light off and go to bed. Tired, but it was a good day.
I killed it at PT and OT today. My PT said I can stop using the cane except for uneven surfaces and long distances, and he thinks I'll be able to say goodbye to the brace by the end of the month. My OT is really pleased with the strength and range of motion in my shoulder. My hand is still to be seen; they say that they see improvement up to the first year. It's hard to be patient, though.
Hello Littens! I'm in inpatient rehab for my stroke! I'm regaining use of my leg fairly quickly, but my hand and arm are going much more slowly. I have feeling in both, but limited to no motion yet. That's apparently par for the course with my kind of stroke. Finally I can read, albeit slowly, because I'm one-handed. Another week and I'll be home.
