“A cross between Umberto Eco and Anne Rice”. SOLD!
Found a nice little indie bookshop near Pike Place Market. I wish I had more time to browse but they were closing.
I finished this book a couple of weeks ago and I‘m still digesting it. It was fantastic. There is an old movie loosely based on this book: “The Ninth Gate” with Johnny Depp, and it‘s not nearly as good as the book. Now I want to get my hands on a Spanish copy since the author is from Spain.

I finished this back at the beginning of February and forgot to post a small review. If you‘ve ever seen The Ninth Gate you have to read this book it was based on. Polanski did a great job adapting the material but there is so much more. Like the entirety of the Dumas manuscript. I want to be Lucas Corso, hunting down old books. But with the heart of Peter Byerly in The Bookman‘s Tale by Charlie Lovett.
I‘ll be reading of course. Won‘t even bother having the game on in the background. I plan on finishing up The Club Dumas. Already rewatched The Ninth Gate last night while reading and it gave me the opportunity to have both fresh in my mind to compare. Still my favorite Johnny Depp movie, the book has now become a favorite as well, even before finishing.
Haul1 from the scrapyard bookshed, they're all in pretty good condition, My Brilliant Career & The Club Dumas look like they've never been read! All for $1 each. #ThriftstoreBookHaul
It is an easy to read mystery story centered around The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas (which I haven't read yet). A hand written chapter of this book sets in motion a lot of action mixed with occult aspects and satan worshipping. I read it almost in one go, wanted the mystery to be solved. So that is good.
Now I know I am a bit disappointed and guess that I won't remember this book for long. #1001books
Skulduggery surrounds the rare handwritten chapter of The Three Musketeers held by rare book man Corso - and it closely resembles some of the action therein. Corso is also investigating the remaining three copies of the Book of the Nine Doors of the Kingdom of Shadows, a purported manual for summoning the devil. Of course, it's possible that the devil may be far closer than he thinks. #currently reading
