Perhaps my most difficult 2020 resolution, goal, punishment, mountain to climb, is my self-declared aim to not purchase any books, new or used this year. My sister was to quick to be a good sister/bibliophile/enabler and say "Well you can't buy books for yourself, but that doesn't mean I can't buy you books ?!" In 2019 I said I could buy 1 new book a month and buy as many secondhand that I could lay my hands on and I took that to heart. (cont.)

LitDrivenGirl I succeeded & realized there are SO MANY books on my shelves I haven't read yet & financially I really need to situate myself in a more positive direction. This is difficult for me because buying books is what I do for a living (that won't stop for the shop) & I usually get first pick. Buying books brings me a great deal of happiness & now I need to focus my "happiness getting" in other ways ?. What are you aiming for in your 2020 reading lives? 3w
SqueakyChu A book buying ban is no fun plus it NEVER works! 3w

SqueakyChu My goal is to read enjoyable books at random using the TIOLI challenges on #LibraryThing to help me select books. It should be a fun reading year., 3w
LitDrivenGirl @SqueakyChu true. This year I have a few people holding me accountable so maybe that will work... this time 😏. Haha I'm planning to TIOLI too! 3w

vivastory Congrats! 👏🤘 2mo
vivastory BTW, do you follow Becky Spratford's social media? She's heavily involved in readers advisory (she does a lot geared towards horror fans, but also others) I don't know if you would find it helpful but I really liked this one 2mo

I‘m almost doonnne! Went in on my day off today to continue working on my #ReadersAdvisory Presentation that I‘m giving to all my colleagues tomorrow morning 🙈. There‘s SO MUCH I want to say 😂👏🏻🤦🏼‍♂️. Some more work tonight and I should be done. Whew! When I do something like this, I go all out. It‘s only an hour long, what am I thinking? This is one of two full carts I‘ll be using tomorrow. Wish me luck! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 #LitsyLovesLibraries

TheSpineView I would say, “Break a Leg“ but I don't want to jinx you! I know you will do fine and like you I prefer to be over prepared than under prepared. Good luck! 👍 2mo

Working on another #PowerPoint presentation! This one is for #ReadersAdvisory, and I‘ll be presenting it to all my colleagues next week. A bit nervous, but if there‘s anyone for this particular topic... 😆🙈. Wish me luck!

I‘ve signed up - have you?? My challenge completion rate has been so dismal, but this may help with the nonfiction titles I planned to read this year.

Thanks for this opportunity, @rsteve388 and @Clwojick ! Check out their profiles for more details. #NFNov

Clwojick Thanks for spreading the word, and glad to see you're joining us! 3mo

Pickpick

I read the 2nd edition of this book. I order all of the graphic novels, juvenile through adult, for my entire public library system. I have, by default, become an expert. This book is excellent. It not only provides excellent graphic novel recommendations, it also explains the why and how of graphic novels for librarians who are less familiar with the genre. It is an excellent basic overview with practical advice that can be applied beyond this.
