Extremely proud of my son @Wolfman and his Book Battle team for tying for 4th place at this year‘s Battle of the Books. Two team members dropped out halfway in and their first adult coach wasn‘t working with them. I stepped up but only met with them a couple times due to health complications. Bottom line, they coached themselves. And, I love that the team is a group of great friends also. #raisingreaders #proudparentmoments #booknerdsrule

What a fabulous bookish morning! Maya‘s school Battle of the Books team pushed from 3rd place (with 5 teams ahead of them tied for 1st and 2nd) in the first round up to first place winners in the final tie-breaker!! They didn‘t give up and they went home with the trophy! I am so happy for these kids!! 🎉🎉🎉

We‘re at the Elementary School Battle of the Books competition this morning! My kid and her school team have worked so hard the past few months preparing for this. 📚 📚 📚

My daughter is super excited to join her school's Battle of the Books team. Any other BOB parents here? The coaches split the 30 books into 2 lists of 15 and this is the list Lena chose. I definitely plan to read the books with her. #battleofthebooks #bob

#BotB Post 5: So proud of my students and so proud of all 95 of these kids who came together today to compete in Battle of the Books and celebrate their love of reading. Rockford ended up taking 2nd place in an insane tie-breaker round.

#BotB Post 4: After all 11 schools have played 10 rounds there's a tie-breaker for 1st! The two teams have to break the tie in front of EVERYONE in the gym and one of my schools is up there! Go orange and blue! #GoGators

#BotB Post 3: Here's the list of books for this year. I work with gifted students at 2 different schools each day, so I'm remaining impartial and rooting for Rockford and Franklin (and Mountain Park, the team I coached for 3 years).

#BotB Post 2: Also excited about Battle of the Books today because this is the first year I don't actually have to do anything!

I've been a coach (of the County champions the first two years we had the competition!), a scorekeeper, and a timekeeper, but this year I kept my head down and wasn't voluntold anything. My classroom is a competition room so I just get to float around and watch my students!

#BotB Post 1: So excited because today's the day of our county's Elementary Battle of the Books competition! Teams of 4th and 5th graders from all 11 elementary schools in the county read 18 books over the course of the year and today they compete to answer questions like "In which book does a character trip while running down the hall?" or "In which book does a character place a green hat on a dog?"

My kind of spectator sport!
