My birthday was so good all day & then I ruined it by getting the guts to tell my mom that I would like a rainbow cake for pride next month for us to celebrate together. She was an asshole about it. Now I gotta act like everything is fine even tho I wanna cry.

Thanks again @jpmcwisemorgan @TheKidUpstairs for gifting me a few queer books last week. 💝Obviously my hunch that I wouldn't get any from parents was ✅.

Hug ur local queer for me, folks.

queerbookreader (I did get this Star Trek cross stitch book that I asked for. I feel like, 3% better about it.) 6y

mcipher Sometimes family is the worst. Glad everything else went well - and I hope you get your rainbow pride cold some other way! Hugs. 💕 6y
VioletBramble I'm sorry that your mother didn't respond like you hoped. I don't know you but I'm proud of you for being courageous and telling her what you wanted. Keep trying. Hopefully things will get better. Happy Birthday!🎈 6y

Reggie I wanna jump in there a lá Dan Savage and say it gets better, even though it doesn‘t feel like it a little, from your posts you know your parents love you. Sometimes you just gotta hang in there until you make your own way in the world and find your friends, your tribe, who will become your family who will help dye the different batters for your Pride rainbow cake. Hang in there and Happy Birthday!!!! 6y
LeahBergen Aww, that sucks. Sending hugs and a big “Happy Birthday” your way. 😘😘 6y
aeeklund Ugh. So sorry!! Sending love and hugs!! 💜💜💜💜💜 6y
batsy I'm sorry you have to go through that. Sending you a virtual hug, if that's OK 💜🌈 6y
jpmcwisemorgan I‘m sorry your parents respond the way they do. I‘m with @Reggie though, someday you‘ll have your own tribe and you‘ll get that cake. 6y
xicanti Many, many hugs to you. 6y
Weaponxgirl @Reggie and everyone is right. You'll find your tribe and it will get better eventually. Dyo have any idea how strong your already showing yourself to be? You asked even though you knew you may not get the response you wanted. That took guts to try and share something you love in that open and loving way. 6y
Suet624 i would make a cake if I knew how to bake. Much love to you. 💕💕 6y

Sorting through my massive box of cross stitch stuff this afternoon!! Most of this isn't actually mine s2g. It's mostly stuff I got from garage sales this season. One person I bought a ton of stuff from was super organized with all these fancy little baggies for each individual floss color, but another person I bought a bag of stuff from had thrown out all her floss labels and everything is now in a big unlabeled clump. Amazing

Mommamanzi 😍😍😍 I would be in hog heaven 7y
quirkyreader I am the one who sticks the colours in individual baggies with 3x5 cards that list the matches with DMC, Anchor, Coats&Clark, etc. I also spend the time de tangling the floss glob, wind it on cards, matches it with the DMC colour, and then puts it into a bag or floss box. I do Kumihio so I like my colours organized. 7y
queerbookreader @quirkyreader I use an old takeout container and lay all my floss there sorted by colors!! I have a separate one for variegated floss too my Grammy gave me. The little baggies this person used are fascinating, I just cut out the top of the oatmeal box I finished today and lined them up there 7y

queerbookreader @Mommamanzi I'm honestly not complaining about the floss in the whole clump cos my favorite thing in the world is untangling knots 🙈 7y
drokka I spool most of my floss, but I'm going to have to come up with another plan for my chunky, and other flosses that don't fit on the spools. This little bag idea sounds like it might the way to go. 7y
minkyb Wow. Just wow! 😲 7y

#riotgrams #getcrafty Here are a few of my recent cross stitch projects! I love #audiostitching, because it combines my two favorite things: cross stitch and reading! 💛

OrangeMooseReads I want to learn how to cross stitch, it looks like fun. Any suggestions on where to start? 7y
Reecaspieces @OrangeMooseReads I think you tube has some videos. It is really not that hard. Start with something simple and just a few colors. 7y

danimgill I love the piece on the right! It looks amazing so far 😊 7y
drokka @OrangeMooseReads I would suggest buying a small kit from a craft shop or sometimes discount department stores have them too. They're inexpensive and not a huge investment in time but would give you a sense on whether it's something you'd like to pursue. Plus, the small kits tend to come with everything. If you like it, then you can expand to patterns without kits where you pick your own colours and fabrics, and additional stitch types. 7y
OrangeMooseReads @drokka thank you for the suggestion. I'll have to check that out. 👍🏽 7y
tricours Very nice! I've been thinking of starting cross stitch as well, perhaps to do some bookmarks or something. 7y
Caterina @tricours Yay! I love cross stitch. I'd highly recommend starting with a small kit (I got my first one from Walmart), since it gives you everything you need and is designed for beginners. I hope you do start cross stitch and enjoy it! 😊 7y

Just started a new #startrek cross-stitch bookmark in preparation for some #audiobooks and stitching during the #readathon this weekend! It'll be a present for my other half. ☺️ #litsystitchers
