The Scorch Trials
The Scorch Trials | James Dashner

Thomas was sure that escape from the maze meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one knew what sort of life they were going back to. The earth is a wasteland. Government and order have disintegrated and now Cranks, people driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim ? and meal. Thomas can only wonder - does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

First finish for the month of November. Book # 20/24 for the #goodreadschallenge . I‘m terrible at reviews, so bare with me. This didn‘t grab me quite to the extent that The Maze Runner did, but it was still worth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. And apparently there is a #readathon going on this weekend in Litsy land, so I‘m using that, as well as one on Facebook, as motivation to get as much reading done as possible! #24B4Monday #LitsyPartyOfOne

Did not get in the amount of reading today that I thought I was going to. I like the book, I‘m just having a hard time with being motivated to pick it up. I‘m really wanting something more light hearted at the moment, but The Scorch Trials is a library book and I feel like I need to get it finished before I move on to something else.

My current read. I‘m not doing a readathon currently, so I‘ve been a bit slower in getting through this one vs The Maze Runner. And can I say how much I love the #libbyapp and the fact that I can read the library books on my #kindlepaperwhite !! My eyes are much happier with me. 👀

I love how this book keeps you on your toes with the flare, WICKED, rebel group etc. As an eighth grader it can be tough to find a book topic that is interesting, but the Scorch Trials and dystopia books in general is my favorite genre.

I chose this book because the first book was actually very interesting, and I'd like to read every book in this series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5/5 stars I'm really enjoying this series! The action definitely keeps me hooked. It will be interesting to see how the author fits together a lot of these moving pieces in the book! It's looking like I'll need to add this series to my home library!

I loved this book. In my opinion it was the best one out of the trilogy, Maze Runner. The plot is full of twists and turns, and you don‘t even have time to take a breath. The characters are unique, and the novel does not shy away from the concept of death, like many dystopian novels do, only killing off a couple unimportant characters. It takes the average reader roughly 15 hours to read the whole trilogy.

I‘ll admit, this one brought a lot of unexpected results, particularly that the fight was not over for these poor gladers. However, a great read that will keep you going to the end; especially with the betrayal and new characters. All in all, it builds from the first one and the leads towards the exciting climax that comes in the last book. #GladersRule #DashnerArmy

Very weak when compared to the first one. In my opinion, that's the problem with most of these Y&A "sagas", the first books are excellent, hard to follow. I almost died reading the last one of The hunger games.... so tiresome . Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end.

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn‘t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.

There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die.

I enjoyed this book, but I found myself getting frustrated with the characters in this book. I don't know if Thomas was just being stubborn or if the author just forgot that he could communicate with Aris telepathically but every time Thomas was separated from the rest of the group and started worrying about his friends I just wanted to smack him for not reaching out to Aris even if he wasn't Teresa. I'm just being nitpicky

Forthestarsx My interpretation is that he thought it was something special just between him and Theresa so when he found out Theresa could talk to aris and him too it took away the magic for him. He resented aris for taking that special thing away from them and he refused to talk to him. Didn't want to be his friend. :) 2y

Book 2 of The Maze Runner series reread. If you're in the Houston area, stop by Books a Million, Katy, TX, as James Dashner kicks off his Summer Reading program on May 25 at 6pm. I'm moderating a panel with questions from attendees for Mr. Dashner!

I enjoyed this, but it took a little while to get going - I probably shouldn't have watched the movie first as that probably ruined the book a bit. I didn't love it, but I've come this far so I'll be reading the final book in the trilogy - I need to know how it all ends!

#ruinedbythemovie for #day20 of #octphotochallenge is going to ALL OF THR MAZE RUNNER MOVIES SO FAR. BECAUSE I ENJOYED READING HE BOOKS AND THE MOVIES LITERALLY WERE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. UGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

LibrarianRyan I have to be honest, the movies being different is what made me like them. And while I have only read the first book and have no intentions of reading the rest, I do like the movies. However you do not get a since of what or who Wked is. During the book and movie I kept reminding myself Wicked is good but I don't know why. 3y
Callemarie @LibrarianRyan if I would have seen the movies first I probably would have liked them. I don't know I just didn't like them. Which sucked because the books are interesting.... I'm torn with this one 3y
LibrarianRyan I get that. I think for me it was that I had a hard time getting through the book. It just dragged on and on. But most the boys I know loved it. 3y
Callemarie I won't lie the first one I had to make myself keep going with but felt it picked up... some 3y

Good general read. The story is more interesting than the first. However, this is where I first started noticing Dashner's struggles with creating/writing female characters. He likes to create smart/badass female characters but then sends them off so that 90% of their story happens off page.
