As a big fan of George Carlin, this was an insightful and engaging read. It was also surprisingly tender, which gave a new layer to Carlin — a layer he did not often show to the public.

As a huge fan of #GeorgeCarlin, this book has me hooked. About halfway through & really enjoying it.

Carlin would have a field day with the state of the world today. 😲 Narrated by George's brother, it felt like hearing George himself tell his story. I knew much of Carlin's history, but he lived even harder than I expected.

I don't feel about war the way you're supposed to, the way we're told to by the United States government. A large part of which is the United States military, whose business is war. So the military is telling us how to feel about war--so THEY can stay in business. Something is fucked up here.

I have a confession to make. If I confess my secret to you, I would hope that you would not judge me--not think of me as a bad person. Maybe many of you, if the truth were known, would have to make the same confession. Here it is: I kinda like it when a lot of people die.

Some part of comedy is always about excess.

The noisier the culture becomes, the stronger your voice has to be to be heard above the din. This was a conscious thought--that I'd better raise the level of my voice and therefore the intensity of my metaphors and images and words and topics to get and keep people's attention.
