I didn't realize until I read the comments at the end that this was based off of an episode of the twilight zone. I thought it had the right tone to remind me of the show, and hear Rod Serling's voice narrating the story.

This was a pretty predictable mystery, there are only so many characters introduced. Plus I felt like it took a long time to set up the premise for how quickly it was solved at the end. There are real crosswords throughout the book so that's an entertaining part of reading this one.

Like most romance novels this is pretty predictable, the same story of we can't be together because of fill in the blank. I still really enjoyed it, there were some unexpected events at end that added to the drama.

I thought this was an interesting book. It gave some good information about meat as well as other random things like rice, salts, and flour. I think there's more to be learned than in this book, but I enjoyed all the pictures!

For the memoir #lmpbc group what do you think of these? These are some of the memoirs I own I haven't read yet. If they aren't exciting I was planning on going to B&N tomorrow anyways so I can find something different. @Wife @BookishBelle @Hooked_on_books Also I can't remember how to tag the rest of the books 😆

Wife I haven‘t read any of them. They all sound good. Surprise me!❤️ 6d
Hooked_on_books I‘d be happy with any of them, but I‘d especially like to read the Takei. 6d
BookishBelle I haven‘t read any of them either. I‘d be happy to read any of them but I‘d like to read Never Grow Up the most. 5d

It was a little slow going starting this but I really got into it and couldn't put it down. The stories of the women in this book is so tragic, it really makes you think about gender roles and the importance that plays in many cultures. I'm mailing this out today @DarcysMom and I'll start on the last book. @leslieseidel @arubabookwoman #lmpbc

It took me a little to get into this, maybe because I haven't read the first 3 mistborn novels? I also like his writing style for Elantris better. Once I got into it though I enjoyed the plot and the world of Allomancers with the Victorian setting.

This was definitely worth a read. All the pictures were super neat, I wasn't alive for most of them but the pictures seem so familiar. Plus there's a history behind the pictures and food of that time. So good!

Eggs Ah yes the infamous Jello mold 2w
AmyG Hahaha @Eggs Remember those? My mother-in-law mad them up to the day she died. I have the actual molds. 2w
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Eggs Yes! @AmyG I used to go to a Mother‘s Day dinner with my grandmother at her church every year & the desserts where all different jello molds. Everyone brought one. Some with suspension, some with layers, some with fruit on top, some with whipped cream mixed in, some with marshmallows. And they just passed them down the tables so you could get a scoop of any that looked interesting and try them. Because of that I remember them fondly today 2w
See All 10 Comments
Chrissyreadit @Eggs @AmyG @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I remember our green Tupperware jello mold. We would make jello with fruit cocktail. 2w
Bklover My grandmother would make a green jello mold ring with pear halves in it. She‘d plop it down on lettuce and put a huge dollop of mayonnaise in the middle. 😳🤢 2w
Eggs @Bklover yes Missy!! My mom did that! Also green jello with shredded carrots 🥕 and celery. Lots of jello flavors and colors as desserts topped with cool whip. If it had mandarin oranges, I liked it. Oh memories. Then there were the jello popsicles... 2w
Bklover Yes!! I loved the jello popsicles! I had forgotten the shredded carrots. And strawberry banana with bananas was The Thing when I was a bit older! 2w
AmyG @Bklover I never understood the jello ,old on lettuce. And yes...i loved bananas in jello...my grandma made that. 2w
Shadowfat That all sounds so fun! But the mayonaise is a little concerning! Thank you @Eggs @Bklover @Chrissyreadit @AmyG @Riveted_Reader_Melissa for sharing! 2w

I really enjoyed this book. Dr. Harvey Wiley was one of the first chemists doing research on food safety with additives and properly labeling/listing ingredients and products. Some of his research could have never been done today, as he did trials using people. Wiley is one of many to thank for the government starting the FDA and the food laws we have now!
