pickA good start to a series! The characters have depth and purpose. There's adventure, deception, and intrigue. It has an interesting stance on the traditional view of the faerie realm and their interest in the human world, which is refreshing after reading a lot of fantasy and hearing a lot of the same takes on it. On to book two! Happy reading!

pickGood read! Its starts off a little slow while characters are being introduced, but I feel like you need that background to understand what is happening later on in the book. There are words from different languages being used all over and sometimes it can be hard to follow. Most of them can be understood in context, but some of them it is helpful to look up in the glossary. The language made it more immersive, but difficult to keep up with.
pickThe characters have depth to them that makes the tension between them all the better. Ryn has such a huge heart, but in her youth so much is black and white for her. She can't understand Irrik's motives for the things that he does. Irrik is dark, brooding, and perfect for a dark romance like this one. The story flowed nicely, although the end is very fast paced. I had to go back and reread a couple sections to make sure I didn't miss anything.
