Making an effort these days to slow down my reading. I noticed that when I rush, my comprehension and enjoyment drop like stones.

I picked this up yesterday. I haven‘t read short form in a very long time. What fun! Tight, well written stories. Maybe I‘ll subscribe. #shortstory #shortstories #magazine

My edition was translated by Gregory Hays. What can I say? It‘s a #classic that will stay in my library. I‘ll probably dip into it repeatedly for the rest of my life. #stoicism #philosophy

4 1/2 Texas stars! What a great read! Jiles is a unique storyteller. Action packed, exciting, and tender. Going to look into the authors other novels. This book was selected as one of the Washington Posts Best Books of 2016. I often select from their yearly lists to force myself to read more diversely.

Vertabrain Great review! I‘m looking forward to reading this soon. 6y
Adriene.Fontenot This is not my typical genre, but I really enjoyed this book. I recommend it to everyone! 6y

Ooh nice! A #deckleedge ! I‘m a fan. Always seems to add class. I don‘t mind the slower page turning, it‘s a book after all, not an action flick! 😄 🎥 📖

A Grimm tale. This is pretty cool. It‘s an out of print 1st edition, author signed, of his first book, that my wife got from a comic convention around 1998. Seems the author has become a successful graphic artist! I‘m thinking of getting it appraised. #graphicnovel

This was fun for me. I was a teen in the 80‘s and gamed a good bit. The pace kept me turning pages. But the authors writing really is below average. I hated his many parenthetical plot hole plugs, they‘re weak and distracting. I haven‘t seen the movie yet, but I think this would make a much better movie than a book! This is the very first book I‘ve read that I feel this way. Previously I‘ve always enjoyed the books more than their movies.

Stephen11 So I rate this as barely a pick, for me. 3.5 stars. 4 if judged only on nostalgic fun. 6y

1. 11

2. Just 24 for this year. This year I‘m trying to read more slowly, thoroughly. I find if I push my reading speed the enjoyment drops. So... we‘ll see.

3. The Power

4. Can‘t decide: either the one that Totally Changes My Life, or the Book of Ultimate Enjoyment.

It was the dawn of a new era, one where most of the human race now spent all of their free time inside a videogame.

RaimeyGallant Have you seen the film? And welcome! #litsywelcomewagon @LitsyWelcomeWagon 6y
Stephen11 Thank you Raimey! No, I haven‘t seen the film. I usually enjoy reading the book first. Films are usually shadows of their books, I find. 🙂 6y

I was looking forward to this book. I‘d picked up the paperback yesterday. This morning I began reading it and kicked myself for not getting the #hardback instead. So I went back B&N and exchanged it. I‘m at the point where I‘d rather pay more for the larger print of hardbacks! (I‘m 52). I grew up in the eighties so this book is pretty on target so far. 🙂

MidnightBookGirl I did a reread, well a re-listen, to the book recently. Still love it as much as the first 2 reads! 6y

I think Mr. Dirda would approve of the #bookmark. So far this is a fun book to read slowly. One little essay a day.
