Kippa is hands down the best part of this comic. The way she hugs her foxtail when she's nervous or scared is completely endearing.

I've read a lot of post-apocalyptic novels, but this one stands out for telling such a human story of resilience and rebuilding.

I have a library holds problem y'all. This is on top of the two books and 3 trades of comics I haven't even started yet! I can never space them out well. 😯

I don't think I would have fully appreciated the intensity of the violence in a prose book. It's even more upsetting on my second read, but so necessary.

This volume of Gotham Academy is a series of vignettes by guest writers and artists. I'm not sure I love it, but this panel cracked me up. Professor Scarlet loves books as much as littens!

Had a great discussion on the use of "pervert" in Ranma 1/2 yesterday. It was definitely problematic in this gender bending story, but it's also important to acknowledge translation challenges and how our language and culture have changed over the past 20 years. This is why I love book clubs and buddy reads. ❤

I should go make dinner but I just want to keep reading. I haven't read much manga but a friend raved about this classic series. It's really starting to grow on me.

Does anyone else play visual novels? They're games where instead of moving around, the action takes place through discussions between characters. My favorites are the Pheonix Wright series, where you're an attorney who also does private investigating to prep for cases. The mysteries are always bananas with a wacky cast of characters.

This didn't quite live up to its promise but I loved the romantic relationships. A beautiful reminder that love always exists between flawed people, and transcends the "rules" society tries to impose about age, gender and ethnicity.

I didn't know much about this going in and gobbled it up in just a couple of hours. After rashly giving away her broken heart, Emma goes on a journey to retrieve the seven pieces. It's more magical realism than grand adventure, with moments both sweet and painful as Emma deals with the fallout from her decisions.

I got to go to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios while I was in Florida! I did a truly terrible job taking photos but this is me in a phone booth dialing the Ministry of Magic. I performed spells with my mom's special wand, drank butterbeer, and rode the Gringotts ride. 😄

I love that I can read this comic I recieved and ignore the car show my family is watching guilt - free. I'm just enjoying my gift so much! 😜

This has been a great road trip audiobook. It's immersive and moves along at a fairly brisk pace, but also has some incisive commentary about the role of media and big data in politics.

In this volume Batgirl wrestles a tiger, and then tells a meddling old flame to take a seat in no uncertain terms. I loved every minute of it! Batgirl is a badass without falling into the Strong Female Character (TM) trope.

I was reading this while waiting for the doctor to come see me. He asked what I was reading, I showed him, and he replied "Well, it's never too late for a happy childhood." ??

I'm a bookish cat lady. I make friends wherever I go.

Very early on I realized this was a lot like the original Muppet Movie (1979), in that it was a fantastic cast of characters on a weird roadtrip with a loose plot. I loved being along for the ride! I also appreciated how alien the aliens were - they author really stretched her imagination to create sentient beings with very different bodies, communication styles and cultures.

S.E. Hinton came to Atlanta tonight! She was funny, thoughtful and totally approachable. I was delighted that 75% of the questions came from kids and teens, including a group of 4 girls dressed as greasers. The kids are alright y'all.

#TBT to last year when my book club was obsessed with the Shades of London series. It's exactly the right amount of spooky and filled with Maureen Johnson's signature absurdist humor. I can't wait for the next book!
