Reading with Atticus ❤️
Lockwood's memoir of life as a Catholic Priest's daughter is hilarious, insightful, emotional and engaging. I laughed out loud and learned so much.
First of all, I should've saved this book for winter. All the snow and cold based imagery fell flat as I sat by the pool on a hot July day. But I liked the characters, and the fact that Mulhauser kept everyone in a gray area - no one was completely good or bad. I was expecting a thriller, it was more than that but not quite enough for me if that makes sense.
This is the most important book of the year, honestly it is probably the most important book in a decade. Thomas gives the Black Lives Matter movement a voice in Starr Carter and gives a realistic and unapologetic portrait of the current epidemic of black men losing their lives to police officers in America. A must read.
OMG my heart is so full right now. My Summer Santa went above and beyond and sent me the most heartfelt and amazing package! Not only did a get some coveted picks from my TBR but other amazing picks, amazing Bookish goodies and horse pictures and more! Thank you so much Jess, I am at a loss for words on how thankful I am.
I found this thriller to be a great page turner, and I love an unlikeable but fascinating cast of characters - but something just didn't work for me. The ending wasn't satisfying and there is an extremely darkness addressed with sardonic humor that didn't quite work.
This book is a powerful exploration on grief and resilience. Sandberg weaves her personal street of losing her husband in with research on loss and resilience. I personally found the narrative more compelling but this is a great book on the subject of grief.
Zentner has outdone himself with this masterpiece on grief and guilt. Carver Briggs lost his three best friends in a car accident that he believes he caused. He wades through grief, retribution, anxiety and depression. This book doesn't skate over a tough issue, it dives deep and is so real and raw. #LitsyAtoZ
This was a very enlightening and entertaining read (in my case listen). Mastromonaco weaves fascinating stories about working in the White House in with entertaining and funny personal anecdotes. Above all she gives great advice to anyone in the workforce.
Another amazing month of selections at #botm. Startup has been on my TBR all year, and after reading the synopsis of these two, I had to add them.
I'm kind of in awe of this book. Start reading it for the deep dive into the fascinating world of Indy animation, stay for the gorgeous, epic female friendship. An amazing novel.
Touring Wild Turkey today and came across Gonzo! ❤🥃
