Our main character can slow down time so much that she becomes practically invisible. #timewillcrawl #septembowie

GypsyKat I saw this cover in Barnes & Noble today. I pointed it out jokingly to the hubs as The Never Ending Story... he was not amused when he realized I was kidding. Apparently I'm not allowed to make jokes about his favorite childhood movie. 😂 7y
LibrarianRyan @GypsyKat I read this book and made it my #travelingbook because I HATED the cover. For the same reason as your husband. That is the ayron. But the book has no connection. I figured the the artist was too young to realize the connection. 7y
GypsyKat @LibrarianRyan I feel like there had to be some copyright laws broken by using this. It's way too similar to the original. 7y
LibrarianRyan @GypsyKat you would think. You don't learn what this symbol is until 2/3s through the book, and I don't think it matches at all. 7y

#catchingup on #septembowie #day23 - #timewillcrawl

Gonna put off starting any larger books until next year. This will probably be among the first wave.

Trying to catch up on #septembowie challenge. This is from my husband's book collection. Quote from back cover " Writing with opinionated pungency on work, money, the middle class, survival through learning and much that's relevant to the 70's." And some things go on. #timewillcrawl

The Complete Wheel of Time | Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson

#SeptemBowie #day23 #TimeWillCrawl Anyone who was a reader of this series from the beginning will tell you time crawled exceedingly slowly in between the release of each book in this set of novels written by Robert Jordan. In fact, he took so long to write them that he unfortunately passed away before finishing the series. While they were released eventually, written by Brandon Sanderson, it was not the same & ended up being a huge disappointment.

tricours I never read past Winter's Heart. 7y
Leniverse I stopped after book 7 or 8, and figured I'd wait until all the books were done. But I've never picked them up again. 7y
Balibee146 I gave my set away unread for this reason. At the risk of sounding awful this is why I hesitate to start Game Of Thrones, especially as Martin has apparently taken steps to prevent another writer finishing his storyline. 7y

LibrarianRyan I thought I had originally read that Jordan didn't want anyone finishing his series and was shocked when the first Sanders title was released. 7y
DuckOfDoom @LibrarianRyan I think I read recently that Jordan wanted someone to finish the series, and made notes for the storyline and even wrote the epilogue of 'A Memory of Light' and his widow selected Sanderson after she read Elantris or Mistborn 7y
Lizpixie @DuckOfDoom then his wife was a fool, if you can't read the difference in style between Jordan and Sanderson, you shouldn't be making that decision. I'm far from the only one so upset over this, there's thousands of us. Ok. Rant over.🙂 7y
DuckOfDoom Well... I like Sanderson's style more than Jordan's but that personal preference. I think it is good the story was told till the end 😊 7y
Lizpixie @DuckOfDoom sorry lovely! I didn't mean any offense. I actually like Sanderson, when he's writing his books. His writing is fun & light, Jordan's has more gravitas and emotion to it which just wasn't in the last books. I get a bit upset over it all, I had 20yrs invested in that series, such a letdown. 7y
DuckOfDoom @Lizpixie Not offendes at all😄 Jordan had a few phrases that just got on my nerves, 'Box his ears', for example. I read the series in a relatively short time, that may be the difference! But I would always prefer an ending of a story, even if it disappoints. I have slight anxiety when I look at G.R.R. Martin or Rothfuss - they just have to finish their books 7y
Lizpixie @DuckOfDoom tell me about it! I've been reading GOT from the start & since Litsy I've taken the plunge with Rothfuss as well. I try not to think about it, otherwise I'd have no fingernails left!😬 7y

#septembowie #TimeWillCrawl ⏳A handful of books that I've read with 'time' in their titles. I don't think time crawled in any of these particularly--I enjoyed all of them. 😆⏳⏰🕰⏱⏲

Time Will Crawl is a song about nuclear disaster and that's just too scary to think about right now 😳

So instead I'm thinking about the marriage equality survey, and how #timewillcrawl until we find out the results on 15 November - such a long time to wait!

Natasha.C.Barnes Oh, you're in Australia, that's cool! I really hope the Yes votes prevail but I was just reading about how much more the No campaign spent...after Brexit and Trump I don't feel optimistic about anything anymore...we'll just have to keep fighting for justice, no matter the result. ❤️💛💚💙💜 (edited) 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes Though by "we" I'm speaking generally bc I'm in the US. 7y
Marchpane @Natasha.C.Barnes thanks I hope so too and it's true that anything can happen these days. A lot will depend on how many people bother to vote as it's not compulsory. 7y

Time Will Crawl was the second single from Bowie's 1987 album Never Let Me Down. The song reached number 33 in the UK charts and number 7 in the USA.
The song is about the increasing threat of industrial and chemical damage to the planet, plus the threat of nuclear damage.
This is a theme Bowie would return to on various songs including When The Wind Blows- the theme tune for the animated film based on a story by Raymond Briggs. 👇

TrishB Bowie was known to be particularly fond of this song , being quoted as saying " without a doubt one of the favourite songs of my career". 7y
TrishB I picked the book (me not hubby) as it seemed to fit the theme. This is an excellent read about what it must have been like to be in Russia at the time of the Chernobyl disaster. #septembowie #timewillcrawl @Cinfhen @Marchpane 7y
Cinfhen Love this information and book choice! I was struggling with a book for today! 7y
Cathythoughts I didn't know any of this. Thankyou 7y
