A Desert in Bohemia | Jill Paton Walsh

It's Jill Paton Walsh, so if course it was incredibly thought-provoking and philosophical. A proper Art of Soul book, @BarbaraJean. I finished it in the midnight hours when I couldn't sleep and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Beautiful writing, highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

willaful I don't think I've read any of her adult books, but I adored A Chance Child. 5d
BarbaraJean Ohhh, I miss Art of Soul!!! I had only read Walsh‘s children‘s books until we read Knowledge of Angels for Art of Soul. I‘ll have to check this one out! 4d

These audiobooks are great! Book three in the Sparks & Bainbridge series was another fun, pleasant listen. Glad I‘ve still got a couple left to look forward to.

Aimeesue I love this series! Anxiously awaiting the next release 2w

Glad that I finally got around to trying this series. Delightful listen. Nice that I have several more to look forward to. If you like Maisie Dobbs &/or The Emmy Lake Chronicles (A.J. Pearce), I think you‘d enjoy Iris and Gwen.

Aims42 I love this series so much 😍 (but I really hate the title of this book lol It sounds so “fluffy”) I think it‘s one of the few series that get better and better with each new book 👍 2mo
Aimeesue I love this series! I agree with @Aims42 it just gets better with every book. And there‘s Sally ❤️ 2mo
Aims42 @Aimeesue YES! So much love for Sally! 2mo
jlhammar @Aims42 @Aimeesue That is great to hear. Now I‘m even more excited to continue! 2mo

While The First Ladies made this a difficult decision, ultimately the tagged book won out. The range of emotions it had me experience while reading it made for an incredible experience. While not all those emotions were good, I‘d recommend this to anyone. #readingbracket2023

No real standouts for March, but this was the Scarlett book most like Noel Streatfeild's children's books, so of course I enjoyed it.

Andrew65 Looks a good read. (edited) 4mo

#readingbracket2023 update

The latter half of the year is more subject to the one or two books I‘ve been able to read. Unless it‘s a strong finish, guessing my January book (tagged) will take it all but it was very good. I think of it often

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I usually do books in this series. The first half has a lot of different threads and felt a little messy and slow. The second half picked up but the mystery was a little convoluted.
