#coffeeandbooks #mugtour

Whenever I visit Harwich on the Cape, coffee at the Snowy Owl & a book or two from the Owl‘s next door neighbor, Brewster Book Store is THE ritual. So many memories of a multitude of coffee klatch‘s with my sibs & books we purchased. After all, we must support indie bookstores & coffee shops! The next generation of adults also participates. 📚💜☕️

Amiable I love every single thing about this post. Every word. 🥰 15h

While not a mug, this tea cup is reminiscent of my mother. So many mornings drinking coffee together. Sometimes tea in the afternoon. Sometimes just us; sometimes with others. Times of conversation, times of quiet. Times of laughter; times of tears. Thousands of memories in just one cup.

The kitties just had to join in.

Mollyanna I love everything about this post! 🥰 3d
AmyG I love your cats joining you. I so miss having a cat. 3d

The summer after my son‘s first grade year, my husband planned a “surprise” trip for us. He knew my love of ferries, so we took plenty of time, going from ferry to ferry down the eastern seaboard. On the way, we stopped & toured this lighthouse. Unforgettable memories.

This mug is from FDR‘s Library and Museum in Hyde Park NY. During a visit of several days, we toured the Library, his home,Springwood, Eleanor Roosevelt‘s retreat,Val-Kill, & the Vanderbilt Mansion. We also ate a few fabulous meals at the nearby Culinary Institute.
I am so enjoying this #mugtour because it is evoking such wonderful, warm memories.

Amiable My husband and I visited Hyde Park and Val-Kill a few summers ago —it is such a lovely place! (edited) 5d
Cpg If you get “down south” visit the Little Whitehouse in Warm Springs, GA (or Ala I think GA) for more FDR history. It‘s by Calloway Gardens- Pine Mountain, GA. 5d
Cpg Sounds like a fabulous tour you were on- I‘ve always wanted to visit the Biltmore! 5d

I spent 2 days a week a few summers ago in
Willimantic CT, about 45 min.from my house. While my son worked in a local museum, I read in this welcoming coffee shop, walked the streets,(including the infamous (“Frog Bridge”)& visited the library & farmer‘s market & generally enjoyed myself. This town has so much to offer- totally changed my inherited stereotypical idea of what the town & its people were like.

BookNAround I lived in the old armory building in Willimantic my first year of grad school at UConn! Such a small, world. 😁 7d
kspenmoll @BookNAround Trying to picture the building. Want to look it up- I must have walked by it! 5d
Amiable I worked at Eastern for 7 years —spent a lot of time in Willimantic! Drove over the Frog Bridge every day. 😀 Another fun fact: Wally Lamb used to have an office space in downtown, and I would sometimes run into him at the gas station near campus. (edited) 5d

The Raven Used Books mug means a trip to Northampton, MA, which we did pre Covid 2 or more times a year. Lots of different bookstores in town, & if we want a drive we can hit South Hadley & Amherst for their bookstores!

Ruthiella I‘m really enjoying your tour via mugs! 😃 1w
Pogue Is the pizza place that makes garlic pizza still in Amherst? I loved that pizza when I lived in MA 1w
Librarybelle What a cozy looking scene! 7d

I decided that since travel is not in my life these days,I will travel vicariously through our mug collection. We buy mugs when we travel. This mug is reminiscent of the years my family summered on Cape Cod.My parents eventually retired there, both ending their long lives there. The 6 year anniversary of my mother‘s death was yesterday. She lived a long life, dying at 92 as she wanted to,in her bed in Harwich with family.

Amiable I buy mugs when we travel, too! Or I did until my husband put a moratorium on them because they started falling out of the cabinet when he opened the door. 😬😀 1w

Early morning breakfast. My mug makes me nostalgic for NYC.

readordierachel Strand ❤ 1w
MidnightBookGirl I miss going to NYC for BookExpo! Or just a trip to with the Hubs to go to Sleep No More again and again. Sigh. And of course, The Strand. It's funny, because I was at a coffee shop yesterday with a friend, and a young woman came in with a tote bag from The Strand. 💜 1w
TheBookHippie Gah … I miss traveling so much.. 1w
kspenmoll @MidnightBookGirl The strand is surrounding you! I hope hope hope we can get to New York this spring. 1w
kspenmoll @TheBookHippie Me too- so many of our ornaments are from places we‘ve traveled. I am taking them down today so it is on my mind. I decided to travel vicariously through our mug collection. We also buy those when we travel. Today I posted a mug from a Cape Cod bookstore. (edited) 1w

Finishing up our New Year‘s brunch courtesy of my son. I opened up tagged book and was surprised and pleased with the dedication- As a teen, I swallowed any Mary Stewart books I could find! Wonder if I reread her now what it would be like for me?
