So far my GR‘s challenge goal is ahead of schedule, but based on my other challenges I‘m definitely reading by the oh pretty🦋, precious 🧙‍♂️🧝‍♂️, shiny✨, SQUIRREL 🐿method. Because this is how my #ReadingChallenges2018 stand:

#MountTBR 10/60
#LitsyClassicsAtoZ 5/26
#LitsyAtoZ 1/26 😱
But I was able to add 3 to my #192019 this month
& 2 for my #Nonfiction2018👍

So good month, BUT I should probably stop joining challenges!🧐😏😂
#MarchStats2018

DGRachel I relate to this so much! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Love your graphic! Looks like it was a great month. I WILL finish Dune before midnight. I‘m not carrying it into a _third_ month! 6y
Gezemice Congrats, great month! Haha, I am ahead of you. Two challenges only and taking a fit-in-what-I-actually-read approach. (edited) 6y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice That‘s what I ended up doing last year with the AtoZ, I‘m pretty sure it‘s going to go that way again this year. I‘m reading some great classics and great sci-fi, just not necessarily the ones I originally put on my list to read at the beginning of the year. Oh well 🤷‍♀️ 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage I completely understand that! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @DGRachel So I‘m not the only one easily distracted by unexpected reads! 🤓 6y
Megabooks Congratulations! Great month! 6y
DGRachel I had a great reading month if you just look at total numbers of pages read, but probably 3/4 were ones that I was given or that I bought in March and did not fill any challenge spots. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
Daisey I completely get this feeling, and I really like how the graphic shows all the connections. 6y
Eggs Congratulations 🎊🎈🎉 6y
Andrew65 Well done 👏 6y
DreesReads Tell me more about nonfiction 2018! I just found this tag today. I have a personal goal to read 1 per month this year. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @AudreyMorris That‘s exactly what #nonfiction2018 is, a challenge to read at least one nonfiction a month. It was actually started last year by @Booksandcooks and tagged under #nonfiction2017 if you want to search for good nonfiction books. This year I‘m hosting it, I just couldn‘t let this great challenge go. It seemed like one I should make into a permanent challenge for myself. 6y
DreesReads Cool! Hopefully I will remember that tag when I finish my next one! 6y

Here is my #top3 #nonfiction2017 I am surprised that 2 of the covers are yellow. I usually don't post my no fiction books in Instagram because I do it in audio, but I will try to add them this year. Listen so many amazing books!

I think I overdid it in 2017 so I was pretty pleased to complete as many challenges as I did. Now on to my 2018 challenges.

I‘m going to do the Birthday Challenge again in 2019 because I turn 40 that year. 🎂

#LitsyAtoZ #lrc #nonfiction2017

AceOnRoam Looks good to me. Good luck this year! 6y
Bookzombie @AceOnRoam Thank you! 😊 6y
AceOnRoam I'm seriously considering Read Harder this year, but already committed to so many on GR. Even though I WASN'T DOING ANY CHALLENGES IN 2018!!! 6y
Bookzombie @AceOnRoam I‘m not doing Read Harder this year. I said the same thing about not doing any this year, but I apparently lied! 😂 6y

#nonfiction2017. This was one of my challenges this year. One nonfiction a month. I actually had more than this. But these were some of the top ones.

LauraBeth I need to read more non-fiction books that aren‘t memoirs. Maybe I‘ll try and do this for 2018 😀 6y
MayJasper Good for you 6y
Reecaspieces @LauraBeth there is a #nonfiction2018! So HIT IT!! 6y

#Nonfiction2017 complete! Thanks for the challenge @Booksandcooks I not only read one a month, but quite a few more. 👍

#ChallengeCompleted2017

slategreyskies Will there be a nonfiction challenge for 2018 too? I don‘t read very much NF. I could really benefit from a challenge like that! :) 6y
Rcoco How was the Neil degrasse Tyson book? I bought this cheap on kindle but haven‘t started it yet. 6y
Megabooks Way to go Melissa! I had no doubt you would complete it! 6y
See All 19 Comments
Megabooks @slategreyskies I‘m not running one in 2018, but maybe someone else will... (not pressuring you Melissa, just wondering if anyone else wants to take over) (edited) 6y
GondorGirl @slategreyskies I too am curious if there will be a 2018 NF challenge. 6y
Megabooks @GondorGirl I won‘t be running one this year due to other commitments IRL, but hopefully someone else will do something with nonfiction! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GondorGirl @slategreyskies Why don‘t we do we one if @Booksandcooks doesn‘t want to host, I don‘t mind. The rules are basically just to read at least 1 non-fiction book each month. 6y
Megabooks @Rcoco I really enjoyed it! 6y
slategreyskies I‘d love to do one like that. Sounds both fun and flexible! Doable, you know? :) 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Rcoco I listened to it on audiobook and enjoyed his voice reading it. But some went over my head in that format. I most likely will the-read it at some point. 6y
GondorGirl @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @slategreyskies So, the challenge was one NF book a month? 6y
britt_brooke Nicely done! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GondorGirl Yes, that‘s what @booksandcooks did last year. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Booksandcooks You sure you don‘t want to host again? I don‘t want to be stealing your idea. (edited) 6y
jhod I'd like to join! 6y
Rcoco I‘d like to as well. Need some ideas, tho, for good reads! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Booksandcooks I just saw your earlier post, sorry I‘ve had internet issues all day, which was why I had time to work on the pretty photos.... but if you really don‘t mind, I‘d be honored to carry on the Nonfiction torch. 😉 6y
emilyesears I guess I technically completed this challenge too though I didn‘t know about it! 😜 (edited) 6y

#DecDays December is my #FavoriteTimeofYear for lots of reasons...and of course all those #bestoflists that I love to see 😍I‘m not ready to compile my #bestFICTIONreads2017 yet but here‘s my favorite NF reads this year. A special thanks to @Booksandcooks who ran a #NonFiction2017 challenge encouraging readers to read at least one NF a month, I read a total of 28❣️❣️❣️ Roxane Gay & Trevor Noah are my top choice 🙌🏻http://spoti.fi/2zUg6mp

TrishB Not a big NF reader, but loved both of those too 😊 6y
emilyhaldi Great selection! 6y
Megabooks Awesome job!!! I loved both of those too. 😀👍🏻 6y
Mdargusch Great job! I love NF. And December! 6y

Shantaram: A Novel | Gregory David Roberts

This morning (when I was supposed to do other things!), @Soubhiville posted about #2018readingchallenges and I got tagged b/c of co-hosting #booked2018. Now I‘m thinking about ways to integrate #theyearofthechunkster into my various challenge prompts. This is a case of #litfluence of the very best kind. I have so many #chunksters on my shelves, still unread!

Soubhiville Yay! Planning TBR‘s is fun, even if I often stray from the plan! 6y
Soubhiville Oh! I just saw you have Kushiel‘s Dart in there! It‘s one of my favorite books! The audio is excellent, if you‘re going that way. Once you start you will want to do nothing else, so be prepared! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Soubhiville I agree - I plan, I re-plan, and then I switch again. 🤪 I‘ll have to look harder at a way to include Kushiel‘s Dart in their then! 👏🏻👏🏻 (edited) 6y
See All 21 Comments
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have quite a few of these on my list too! More we can read together! #LitsySilverLining! 😂 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Maybe instead of #Nonfiction2017 we‘ll have to work on #Brick2018 6y
Ashley_Nicoletto I love planning TBRs and the idea of reading lots of lengthy books. So excited you're thinking about coming along for the fun! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Which books do we overlap on? I‘d love to read together as we can! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Ashley_Nicoletto Me too. Even if I only read 4-5 #chunksters in 2018, that‘s still good by me! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have The Inheritance Trilogy bundle and Cryptonomicon on my kindle, Team of Rivals on audiobook, and Women Who Run With The Wolves and The Mists of Avalon in paperback...and those are just the ones I own already, there‘s a few others there that I wouldn‘t mind reading. (edited) 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa The People‘s History, The Once and Future King, Jonathan Strange, The Luminaries, House of Leaves, and And The Band Played On are all ones I‘d like to read too, but I don‘t think I current own them. I‘m pretty sure I could get any of those from the library though. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m planning the first Jemisin and Women Who Run w/Wolves for Jan-Mar #Booked2018 challenge prompts. So those would be the first logical ones. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘ll try to do the same then. I still have Jemisin‘s other trilogy to finish up soon(ish) too. (edited) 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Sounds like a plan. Hey, are you thinking of going to hear George Saunders in Feb at Midtown? I‘m indecisive since I‘ve heard him before. And worries that I‘m too far away for a winter date. I wouldn‘t go up in the snow! 6y
ApoptyGina69 When, oh when?!? I wanted to read it this summer, I thought by the end of the year...now I‘m thinking over my holiday break, but SOON. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @ApoptyGina69 For which one? Shantaram? I‘m starting it on Jan 1st for 2018 challenges. I‘d be happy to do a buddy read if you don‘t get to it sooner. 📚❤️ 6y
Johanna414 Looks very similar to my 2018 plan- I want to focus less on the number of books I‘m reading and try to put a dent in reading the books I already own. Especially the longer ones I‘ve been putting off for awhile! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Johanna414 Agreed. I just counted up my challenge-related books and my goal will be forty percent lower than last year. Quality over quantity! 6y
ApoptyGina69 @BarbaraTheBibliophage yes Shantaram. Sorry, I didn‘t realize the vastness of the post when I commented in haste. 😊I have added a buddyread to my notebook of January plans and will follow up. 😍📚👍 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @ApoptyGina69 Perfect!! It‘ll be fun to read together. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️📚❤️📚 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage I just saw your question now when I was going back to see what two books you had mentioned for spring to write them in my schedule. No, I wasn‘t planning to. I‘ve heard of him, but read very little from him so far, and like you it gets really hard to plan ahead during the winter months. So nope, I‘m not planning on that one, sorry. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa No worries. I think it‘s just too dicey in the winter. I do like his work, but I already own a few and don‘t want another copy. Already have a signed one. 6y

Scrappy Little Nobody | Anna Kendrick

Pickpick

Thank you Anna Kendrick for #savingmySunday 😌I was knee deep in laundry after hosting my brother & his family & this #audio made my day/ chores fly by! I'm pretty sure Anna K would get along with all of us on Litsy...she's articulate, honest, funny and doesn't hold back. There is nothing earth shattering or too deep here but it was a pleasant way to spend several hours. #audiocleaning #Nonfiction2017

Christine11 I liked it a lot too ! As you say it‘s a very light read but sometimes it‘s nice to just read something fun and not too serious isn‘t it ? 😊 6y
vkois88 I really liked this book when I read it earlier this year. Anna Kendrick cracks me up. I can only imagine what it was like to hear her actually read it 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed it! 6y
Cinfhen Absolutely @Christine11 these are my favorite types of #audiobooks...where I feel like im sharing a conversation with a friend @vkois88 6y

TriciaO Such a fun one to listen to! Have you listened to Lauren Graham‘s book, Talking As Fast As I Can? If you liked Scrappy Little Nobody and like Lauren Graham, then you‘ll love it too! 6y
kim.guernsey I read this one and don't normally do audiobooks but I'd revisit to hear her narrate her own thoughts lol 6y
Cinfhen Thanks for the rec @TriciaO I've never watched the Gilmore Girls but I think I'd still enjoy the audio for 6y
Cinfhen @kim.guernsey I've listened to a few different celebrity audios & liked them all but something about Anna Kendrick was extra appealing 💖 6y
GypsyKat Wasn‘t this great? I absolutely loved it on Audio, so fun and funny! 6y
Cinfhen Yes ‼️‼️‼️‼️ @GypsyKat ❣️❣️❣️❣️ 6y
GypsyKat The hubs and I have taken to quoting it, too. When something happens we often say “What the hell was that, Jessica?” 😂 6y
Cinfhen 😂😂😂🤣😂 @GypsyKat I love your hubs quotes from the book too!!! 6y
Megabooks This was so fun! 6y
Cinfhen Totally @Booksandcooks It was sort of in the vein of 6y
emilyhaldi Ok you just convinced me to try this on overdrive! 👍🏻 6y
Cinfhen Definitely on OverDrive! That‘s the way I went...I don‘t think you‘ll be disappointed @emilyhaldi 💕 6y
Megabooks Agreed. Although I enjoyed this more than Schumer‘s 6y

bookloo 3 buddy reads?!?! Awesome. 🤚🏽 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @bookloo Yes, but they all started in October, so they were spread over 2 months! 6y
Daisey I really like this format showing why/how each book was read. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Daisey Thanks, I was just looking to do something different than the usual list. 6y
