Mehso-so

Full disclosure: I am not the right audience for this kind of book, so I have an #unpopularopinion. The best thing about this book was the setting, which was almost like a character, itself. I felt the book was too plot driven and not character driven enough for my taste. The writing didn't stand out for me--very much a typical thriller read, and I am not a fan. I thought I'd give it a try, but it was more #mehthanyeah ⭐⭐⭐/5

JazminDennis I felt like the characters could have been more developed and I felt like there were a lot of loose ends. 1mo
EmilyM @JazminDennis I agree on the characterization! 1mo
EmilyM @JazminDennis I will say I liked the setting of The Bartholomew. 1mo

Pickpick

The main question in this story set in Trinidad is - who would you choose/save? The father of the two boys is in this situation, and the story is mainly told from his perspective. Besides this personal drama also runs the story of the place itself - dealing with poverty, violence, corruption, limited opportunities ...
Solid 3⭐️

Cinfhen Solid three?! So more #MehThanYeah?? #BorrowNotBuy??? 9mo
4thhouseontheleft The book blurb has left me on the fence about reading this one. But I like your review! 9mo
Simona I love your # @Cinfhen It‘s meh book and in the borrow category. There is nothing serious wrong with the story @4thhouseontheleft but at the same time, there also isn‘t something extra good ... the overall subject, moral dilemma, is interesting topic, but that is all... 9mo
Cinfhen That‘s how I rate a three star book, Simona... Ok but nothing worth owning!!! 😜😜😜 9mo

More #mehthanyeah
Fell flat for me in the middle and realised I‘d lost interest. Flipped to the end - then wanted to know how it ended up like that - then didn‘t like why/how it happened. If you‘re still avidly reading dystopian stuff then you may enjoy! This was an offer from Foyles last week and picked by son for next read!!
Apparently it will be a new telly series 🤷‍♀️
