I found this book hard to rate...(you're not the only one, Cindy!) It started off strong and I loved reading about the quirky Stephanides family's Greek origins. However, it slowed down about halfway and had me wondering when the heck I was going to get to Callie's big reveal. Once I did, the conclusion definitely felt rushed. Good, not great... I really wanted it to be better!!
Thanks to #sexybuddyread for pushing me to finally read this one!!

emilyhaldi @Cinfhen for once, I feel like we are totally aligned on a book! 😂 I agree with everything you said in your review - the second half of this book was totally disconnected from the first?!! Odd, but a story that I think will probably stick with me for a while 🙃 4y

Middlesex: A Novel | Jeffrey Eugenides

The last 200 pages didn‘t match the first 300 pages and ultimately this isn‘t the book I was hoping for.
I also feel this book is dated. Had this book been published in 2019, I don‘t think it would have received the same accolades and awards. Happy to have read as it‘s been on my shelf for years. Thanks @emilyhaldi @sisilia for the #SexyBuddyRead

Centique Fair enough. I loved it but thought it was a bit dated too - and the first section was my favourite as well. 👍 4y

emilyhaldi 3 stars sounds fair 🙃 I agree with you that it's definitely a bit dated. The Greek characters are fun and different for now but I'm yet to hit the sad part... I am happy to finally be reading this book after so many years of wondering what all the fuss is about!! Thanks for the motivation 🤗 4y

Thoroughly enjoying the #sexybuddyread so far! Mixing it up between the hard copy and listening to the audio while wrapping Xmas gifts 🎁 The audio narrator is very entertaining and perfect for this bizarre story.

Megabooks I started the Attenberg on audio today, and I‘m loving Therese‘s narration! I‘m only 5 short chapters in, but the story has a good hook. 👍🏻👍🏻 4y

DGRachel @Cinfhen @Hooked_on_books The Calhoun is really good so far. Very readable and emotional. I feel seen, and that‘s huge. I think it has a very specific, narrow audience (Gen X women), but I‘m curious to see if she expands her thoughts at all to relate to more people. 4y

I had an ok reading week
First half of the week I bailed on 3 audio books and wasted 3/5 Hoopla credits 😩Thanks to @Megabooks for suggesting BEAUTY QUEENS which is fantastic 🥰
I read 2 ARCs/ ok but not WOW 🙄
BENEDICTION, last book in the PLAINSONG trilogy was a disappointment 😣
I‘m on page 252 of my #SexyBuddyRead ( MIDDLESEX) & I‘m still not sure what to make of it 🧐
I started Olivia but I‘m less than 12 pages in 🤷🏼‍♀️

I‘ve finished the first third @sisilia Definitely NOT what I was expecting ~ it‘s much quirkier and utterly delightful. The first third is basically the history of Cal‘s grandparents union and it‘s quite a story. Waiting to hear your thoughts #SexyBuddyRead 😉
