Pickpick

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ This book was my #lmbc pick, Rd 16, Group W. It is is about facing our pains and finding peace in who we are alongside that pain. If you enjoy romance and cozy lit fic, you‘ll likely enjoy this one. It has a cozy setting, a budding romance, humor, and some very cheesetastic lines. Full review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58503739. @Deblovestoread I‘m sending it your way today! @julieclair @Jerdencon

I have had such a hard time reading my book for #lmbc. I have 5 days to read 200+ pages. The tumor in my head has been flaring up pretty badly and I have a wicked headache. Wish me luck!

How do I mark up this book? Someone said just to highlight parts that stand out to me. Is that right? Sorry, I've never done this.

CBee @suvata can you help? 😊 2y
suvata You can mark them up however you want. You can highlight areas, underline lines, write notes in the margins, etc. you don‘t have to be totally serious about your notes. Often times, people will just write “lol“ “yummy”. I have even been known to attach a picture to a page that has additional images or explanations that I found while googling something. The photo you provided with your question looks just perfect to me. (edited) 2y

Bailedbailed

Ok I tried. I usually have a 100 page rule before I bail. I‘m at 87 and I can‘t. I have too many books I want to read. I‘m sorry. Just can‘t. #LMBC fail for me. It was bound to happen when I join groups out of my comfort zone......

rsteve388 No worries. It was rough. Glad to know the book made it to you. 3y
Amiable What was it that made you bail? The subject matter? The writing style? I have this book in my pile at home and haven‘t read it yet. 3y
Bookishlie It was very dense informational reading and to me there was no spark that made it more interesting. It just seemed to read out dates, this happened , that happened, next thing. I‘m also very much a mood reader and this wasn‘t for me. 3y

Mehso-so

This book had a lot of detail.regarding the many murders that took place throughout Victorian London.and how it influenced novels, stage plays and entertainment overall. It was a bit too long for my liking and I found myself having to push through the book in order to finish it. Had this book been developed into two.books it might be easier to handle all the details.

#LMBC @Annie1215 Sending you the book on Monday.

Thanks for the tag @EadieB ! Tana French novels makes me think of cold weather. Holiday weekend I wan to finish my #LMBC reads so I can get them in the mail. I had planned to do a big batch of barley soup to also share with an elderly neighbor in need but work got in the way. So tomorrow. Had a delicious salad instead. This week, in light of the U.S. election it has been the movie version of Hamilton!

Bklover I love barley soup! Do you have a good recipe for it? 3y
EadieB Love your answers! Thanks for playing! 3y
SamAnne @Bklover one of the first soups I learned to make out of the old Moosewood cookbook. A vegetarian beef mushroom vegetable. I still riff on that one, but I'm no longer vegetarian. There is a delicious recipe where you caramelize the chopped onions in Vegetarian Cooking For Everyone by Deborah Madison (an excellent basic cookbook for everyone!). I make mine with beef, turkey or veggie stock, mushrooms (regular white, dried or fresh wild or combo 3y
SamAnne @Bklover Chopped carrots. Most people add celery (I don“t like celery) but I will sometimes add chopped celery root which I love. Onions, garlic. Moosewood recipe uses dill for the herb, but you can use thyme, a little rosemary. A half cup of sherry really rounds the flavor, or some white wine. Salt, pepper. A little soy sauce/tamari at the end for a little more salty if needed. Beef, turkey, chicken if you want. Easy to make and change up! 3y
Bklover Oh my goodness thank you! The recipe I‘ve used (I have only made it once) was pretty basic. Took a screenshot of your suggestions and am going to try some this weekend. I love the idea of the mushrooms - thank you again for this!!❤️ 3y

Pickpick

@runswithscissors007 , @BookishTrish , @FantasyChick - #lmbc - I can't wait to get your thoughts on this book! I really enjoyed this novel by first time author Amy Spurway. The characters are gritty and true maritimers- I felt like they could be around my neighbourhood kitchen table.

So #LMBC I just started this today and February is over tomorrow - Urp!

I'm really sorry - I've been traveling a lot & traveling light, just carrying my ereader so no actual books. I probably won't finish this until mid-to-late March. I'm sorry about that! I'll send it back and close the circle just as soon as I'm done!

@MeesesPieces @Hazel2019 @Hestapleton
