I remember the hubbub when this was published. Frank Sinatra was NOT happy.

#regrets … I‘ve had a few …

Sneaking in 2 more classic memoirs on #audiocassette. What fun to have Lauren Bacall and Nancy Sinatra read to me in my car—and even hear early recordings of Frank‘s music. Lauren had great advice on speaking your truth, while Frank professed inclusivity and equality. Nancy also dispelled many hurtful rumors about her dad. Lauren and Frank were such close friends, they almost married. Who knew? Thumbs up for both!

Finished the tagged book. It's been on my TBR since 2011! I'm a huge Sinatra fan and have been for years. While I found this could be gossipy at times, I really appreciated the details notes Barbara wrote about Frank and his generosity. Definitely more of an intimate portrait aof the artist and man rather than a biography. Just need one more for a bingo this month! #bookspinbingo

If you want detail on Frank Sinatra, this is the book for you. I mean, I wanted to learn about the book's subject -- and I did -- but sometimes it felt like the writer thought he needed to beat you over the head to make you understand.

With that said, overall I liked it. I got what I wanted out of it. This covers his life up to the "From Here to Eternity" Oscar win.

When I think of Frank Sinatra it's hard not to think of #TheHat that was worn rakishly tilted and was oh-so stylish. This book still sits on my shelves, it's a fun read that capture's Sinatra's style & the style of the fifties-sixties. I love books on old Hollywood fashion & glamour. 🎩🍻👗🍾

Cinfhen Look at those blue eyes 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙 5y
LMJenkins I'm really fascinated by the idea that Ronan Farrow is his son and not Woody Allen's. The likeness is pretty striking. 5y
KarenUK What a clever take on today‘s prompt! ... and so stylish! (His performance in ‘High Society‘ is my favorite 😍🎶💕) 5y

mom2bugnbee @Cinfhen I had a Siamese mix cat (no longer with us, but lived 20 years!) who I named Sinatra due to her blue eyes. It was so sad how many younger people didn't understand her name! 5y
Tex2Flo Now that‘s a nice hat! 5y
Cinfhen What a great name for a cat @mom2bugnbee she most have been a beauty. 5y
DebinHawaii @Cinfhen Gorgeous, right?! 💙and I agree @LMJenkins that the resemblance between them is striking. @KarenUK I love him in High Society too! 😍 @mom2bugnbee I bet she was gorgeous.🐱💙 @Tex2Flo Yes! He wears it well! 😉 5y

Reading with my ipad & phone so I can look up all the places. Just learned that I work across the street from the cemetery where many huge celebs are buried; that Matteo‘s restaurant near my home was Sinatra hangout. Spaces hold the DNA of what came before and I feel the past‘s presence strongly.
This book is wonderful trip through a city and time. Lots of good gossip too! Book # 1

Litsi And a new thought. The Rat Pack was an ad campaign for the joys of drinking alcohol which of course was controlled by Sam Giancana. “My Kind of Town” takes on a whole new meaning as a pledge of loyalty to the Chicago mob. 5y
Litsi Sinatra didn‘t “get” Elvis. He would listen obsessively to All Shook Up and Teddy Bear to understand why they were popular. He refused to call it art. Interesting discussion about the transition in music from Sinatra to Elvis and eventually Rock n Roll. 5y

I‘m a big Sinatra Fan, usually not big on biographies but I glad to add this to my collection. My boyfriend gave me two books for Christmas. This one and Edgar All Poe Collection. I can take my time because I doubt I‘ll read this straight thru or use this as a reference. Reviews say it reads more like a novel and it‘s one of the best biographies about him

Alfoster I love him too! (My biggest claim to fame is he sang at my mom‘s prom when he was just starting out)!😍😍😍 5y
BookedBySunrise That‘s awesome, I have also loved him even when I was little. Got teased some at home and family because I Of it. Been told I was born in the wrong generation lol 5y
