Pride and Prejudice | Jane Austen
post image

It‘s only August 3rd and I‘m already behind with my #firstimpressions 😳

Pride and Prejudice was my gateway drug to Jane Austen. I love all of the other novels (well, I tolerate Emma 😂) and Persuasion is a strong contender for favorite, but I still love P&P the most.

Elizabeth Bennet in all of her snarkiness is just plain awesome, this book is hilarious and sweet, and Mr. Darcy isn‘t too shabby either.

Rural Oklahoma in early 80's you could usually find me with a book on my Mom's ugly couch. When the weather was good we had 3 TV channels. Masterpiece Theatre's Pride & Prejudice was my Introduction to Jane. Visit to the Library soon followed because I HAD to read the book and after that everything Austen. 😍

One page into the first chapter and I‘m already glad I saved this book for last. One of my two BFFs is getting married and it has forced me to think about my own wedding (and the mess it was. Which is good, because our marriage is strong and that‘s what matters right?). I‘m determined to be the best MOH ever, so who knows. Maybe I‘ll pick up some tips from this book.

Bridget Jones's Diary | Helen Fielding

I had read Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones's Diary before I saw the BJD movie. The movie was my first exposure to Colin Firth and later I finally saw the BBC P & P miniseries. Swoon! I watched it umpteen more times with my daughter and then read P & P a few more times and also read all the other Austen books. So the BJD movie really kicked my Austen love into high gear. #firstimpressions #austeninaugust @Crinoline_Laphroaig

Crinoline_Laphroaig Love Mark Darcy! 😍 1y

I remember before I started reading books that weren't sci-fi or fantasy my #FirstImpressions of #JaneAusten were not good to say the least 😅 but my first impressions once I actually read them 😍🤩

Northanger Abbey | Jane Austen

My first encounter with Jane Austen was as a girl through the local PBS station showing Northanger Abbey on Masterpiece. I was captivated! Here was a girl who loved novels just like me! I've heard that Austen was poking fun at gothic novels but I just accepted this movie as is. I would say that's a strong #FirstImpressions #AustenInAugust @Crinoline_Laphroaig

Crinoline_Laphroaig It's just brilliant! And there's Henry😍! 1y

I somehow managed to avoid reading any Austen at all until a few years ago... I‘m not sure why, but I never thought her books would be my thing.

Then I read Pride & Prejudice and absolutely loved it, so I quickly devoured the rest of the novels. Then, I started rereading just because. ❤️

My #FirstImpressions were that, rather than stuffy or old-fashioned, Austen‘s writing was snarky and witty and delicious. See above. 😍

Kaylark I was angry that I was forced to read this in college, but it quickly became my favorite! 1y
Joanne1 1000% agree. 1y
AshleyHoss820 Persuasion is my favorite! (And I hate romance of all kinds because I have no soul...) 1y
