Brothers Karamazov | Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky

Husband kindly made me #chai so I can sit down and read my book (I don't drink #coffee).

Parts of this are actually REALLY funny so far.

"...so I'm not even ashamed to tell about it. I'm always damaging myself like that!"
"You're doing it now, too," Miusov muttered in disgust.

Schlinkles Loving that mug! 6y
bookandcat @Schlinkles thanks! It was my souvenir from our last trip to Disney and I'm obsessed with it. My husband asked me if I wanted chai and I was like yes!...but can you put it in my Leia mug? 😆 6y
emilyhaldi I've been chuckling here and there too! 6y

saresmoore There‘s so much melodrama among these men! If there‘s anything to be said about Dostoevsky‘s view of women, I think it‘s most clearly articulated in the fact that they are mostly the sane ones! 6y
bookandcat @saresmoore so true! 😆 6y
Lcsmcat @saresmoore Indeed! His men are all a bit nutty. 6y

In other news, my evening is going to be a hailstorm of history. April‘s History Magazine, my current reads, documentaries and lets not forget the coffee! 😉 I‘m really excited to read this article about Elizabeth Woodville, I find her most fascinating! Do you have any favourite women of history? If so, whom and why? 🤗 #booklover #tudors #plantagenet #history #bookblogger #bibliophile #medieval #currentlyreading #bookandmug

AshleyHoss820 I enjoy reading about Anne Boleyn because I bet she was feisty! And I LOVE reading about Elizabeth I because she was intelligent, sassy, independent and strong! 😄 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @AshleyHoss820 Ooh! Yes! Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I are two of my favourites too. Fascinating women. X 6y
TrishB Eleanor of Acquitaine and Boudicca 👍🏻 6y

Sophoclessweetheart @TrishB amazing choices! I don‘t know all that much about Eleanor of Aquitaine but I‘m eager to learn more about her! Boudica is fierce! X 6y
Weaponxgirl @TrishB Boudicca is wonderful and a local gal to me 😍 I love any fierce woman of history but Frida Khalo and Ida b Welles are also fave women who inspire me 6y
umbrellagirl St Margaret of Scotland, wife of Malcolm III. Her son, David I, is also a favourite but he isn‘t a lady. 6y
rubyslippersreads Anne of Cleves, because she got the best deal of any of Henry VIII's wives. One of my favorite historical novels is (edited) 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @Weaponxgirl Ooh! Some more recent women. Love that. I don‘t know very much about either though. Really cool that Boudica is local for you x 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @umbrellagirl Fascinating. I actually have never heard of either of those. How embarrassing. 😅 I‘ll certainly look them both up x 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @rubyslippersreads Oh! Fun choice. I find all of Henry VIII‘s wives interesting but I‘d say she‘s certainly one I know least about. X 6y
rubyslippersreads @Wanderingwithwords I don't think the novel is very historically accurate, but it's very satisfying. 😊 6y
TrishB @Weaponxgirl great choices 👍🏻 6y
TrishB @umbrellagirl anything you recommend for Margaret books? 6y
TrishB Read this trilogy for Eleanor - this is the first one. Or Sharon Penman 👍🏻 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @rubyslippersreads I‘ll be sure to grab a copy and make sure to pay more attention to Anne Of Cleves in my Studies from now on x 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @TrishB I‘ve heard a lot about this trilogy. I‘ll have to study a bit more about her then give it a try. 💛 6y
umbrellagirl @TrishB Susan King has written a novel about her, Queen Hereafter. She did one about Lady MacBeth as well. For non-fiction/biography, there‘s one by Alan Wilson. 6y
TrishB It‘s awesome 👍🏻 6y
TrishB @umbrellagirl have saved that book in my notes - sounds good thanks 👍🏻 6y
Itchyfeetreader Sticking with the British Royal family I am with @TrishB on Eleanor and I also have a soft spot for the lesser discussed British queen, Queen Anne. More generally this year I had planned to read more about some of the ordinary women who have been influential in history but have failed miserably so far! 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @Itchyfeetreader Most of my favourite women of history aren‘t royal. Though these responses would suggest that the royal women are most popular. Hah x 6y
Itchyfeetreader @Wanderingwithwords I think maybe just the most regularly appearing in both biography and literature :-) 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @Itchyfeetreader Definitely so! It‘s gravely unfortunate how little research has been done on so many amazing persons and events throughout history. 6y

"Her laughter catches him off guard. As if it‘s carbonated and someone has poured it too fast and it‘s bubbling over in all directions. It doesn‘t fit at all with the gray cement and right-angled garden paving stones. It‘s an untidy, mischievous laugh that refuses to go along with rules and prescriptions"

Good Monday morning, lovelies! Today's #grimdragon prompt is All the feels! Friends is a show that continues to give me all the feels, no matter how many times I watch it and despite the fact that I pretty much know all the lines by heart. Buying this book was a no-brainer, it's packed full of tidbits about the show and the cast. If only they had novels based on the show, how fantastic would that be?? What shows do you watch over and over again?
