This was hand sold to me by a bookseller when I told her I like good historical fiction but am tired of WWII and dual timelines. While this post Revolutionary War story centers around a midwife, it's the story of a family, a town, sexual assault, power, and home. Great characters, a compelling plot, and a beautifully written setting made this book a 5-star read for me. June #Bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

Val is always a solid 4 star read for me.
I love her characters, their relationships and the very realistic growth they show.

Karen and her cold cases are quickly becoming my most favourite. The way Val structure these stories makes it page turners even knowing there's no life to save at the end.

This installment had a very intriguing plot and is set during COVID, so every normal thing had to be done slightly differently.

Andy Weir may be an auto-read for me at this point, and I‘m not sure I can say that about any other scifi author.

This one is a heist in a lunar colony. Jazz is hired to sabotage the smelting company on the moon so a billionaire can take over their contract with the lunar government. Of course things don‘t go as she planned, and a fast paced race to avoid the law, a mafia, and save the day ensue.

Projects Hail Mary is still my AW fave, but 👍👍.

Soubhiville Not sure why Venkman is lying with Sietje‘s stuffed chicken, but he made me laugh so I used the photo op. 17h

TheAromaofBooks I didn't like this one as well as Project Hail Mary or The Martian, but it was still an entertaining read. 4h

House of Leaves | Mark Z Danielewski

I'm calling it... Bailing on House of Leaves. At least for now, probably for good but never say never I guess. I read the intro and 2 chapters and it's good but I can already tell it's not the book for me right now. Horror is just not where my brain is at right now.

That knocks off another past #bookspin, and I'm still counting it for #offmyshelf (for on tbr longer than 5 years) since it's off my tbr.

This one was so much better than the first book!

First off, I have to preface this review by saying I have seen the second season of the show, so I did know a lot of the plot points going into the book and obviously wasn‘t surprised by some of the things that happened.

This book was much more emotional than the first.

I enjoy Sager‘s novels - quick reads to keep me guessing.

Mehso-so

Honestly, I don‘t quite know how to feel about this book which is why I gave it 3 stars.

This book started off so slow. It took me a while to get into it. It just felt like the story was meandering and that made it boring.

By the second half it got more exciting and it low key got a little horny, which I typically don‘t mind but in this case it felt random.

Prairiegirl_reading I was hate reading by the end. Lots of people love it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7d
oddandbookish @Prairiegirl_reading I didn‘t hate it but I definitely didn‘t love it either. It got such great reviews and I was expecting more from it. 7d
