What a wonderful, beautifully written book. The characters are irresistible, the language evocative. A book not to be rushed but thoroughly enjoyed.
With references to Mary Anning and Eleanor Marx it touches on how women were viewed at the time and easily weaves in how women were viewed as possessions, but this is no way overshadows the story. Just beautiful.

charissharpe @TopazMagpie the end was not what I was expecting... I think I would have ended it after they rescued Will's wife. Everything beyond that felt like an unnecessary tidying up, I'd have finished there and left us all wondering... although maybe that would have annoyed people too! 7y
