Reading #theidiot has made me think a lot about format. Typically, I don‘t mind reading on my Kindle at all, but with this novel, the switch to a “real” book made a huge difference. I was totally captivated by it the second time around. Perhaps it was timing?

Anyone else have this experience?

Am going to read the nonfiction #tob18 #tobMAYnonfiction books, are you? And the Tayari Jones is one I talked my book club into selecting. Super excited to find a blank book that matches my cellphone case!

Just starting this and before the 25 minute mark, I have a pie reference! (And she‘s describing Lutherans LOL (I was raised Lutheran))
However. NOT quite in love with her voice, or the tone, or... she sounds a bit
Um, what's the word? Disrespectful? Irritable? (Synonyms for surly) Like a teen 🙄
I heard it was “hilarious”; always a risky recommendation: Humor is so personal, I guess.

What an exceptional reading month ! Three ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reads : White Tears, 1984 and Red Clocks and a really interesting new author discovery in Hernan Diaz ( thank you #ToB18 but let‘s not discuss the fiasco of some of those results ... ;)

Wow. The End of Eddy was a heartbreaker of a novel. After reading the commentary in the Tournament of Books, I had to read it, and its vivid detailing of the protagonist‘s (and perhaps the author‘s?) childhood made this almost a one-sitting read for me.

This book just slayed me. The writing is beautiful, and the way that Khong develops each of these flawed, compelling “born humans” is quietly devastating. I can not recommend #goodbyevitamin more.

And, with EXIT WEST, my madcap catchup #tob18 reading might be done, unless I can track down GOODBYE VITAMIN this weekend. I do have THE IDIOT on hand to read for round 2.
