Pickpick

A look at the unjust conviction of Jewish German immigrant Oscar Slater of a sensational murder he did not commit. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was sometimes consulted to use his character's unique observational and reasoning skills to help with real world mysteries - and he campaigned to get Slater released.
A lot of tangents into bios and inspirations and such and I enjoyed all of it.

Vox populi, vox Dei. You are acquitted, Captain Crocker. So long as the law does not find some other victim you are safe from me. Come back to this lady in a year, and may her future and yours justify us in the judgment which we have pronounced this night!

Pickpick

The final book in George Dillman/Genevieve Masefield series. Set in the 1920s, our main pair are married private detectives on the White Star Line. In this installment there are thefts, a murder, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle aboard and a medium who conducts séances. As always , it was well written and very enjoyable. I will miss spending time with George and Genevieve.

My first finish for #20in4 and #Sharreadathon

Mehso-so

Wasn't familiar with this story so I gave it a quick read via my Kindle app. Typical ACD Sherlock Holmes, which is to say neither bad nor especially engaging. Holmes really is a jerk to Watson much of the time, isn't he?

AmandaBlaze I never got into traditional Holmes, maybe because my Dad was so fanatical about it. I did like Laurie King's version, though. 6mo
braddsibbersen I generally find other authors' takes on the character more interesting. Literally read this story on a whim, in part because it was so short. 6mo
