pickThis was such a more emotive read than I was expecting ,our main character,Gia had previously left her home town in a somewhat cloud of shame after she had reported her favourite teacher for crossing boundaries with her when she was his student.How the story unfolds from there and how the truth of her claims eventually comes to light to all living in the town was so well written and moving I couldn't get enough of reading this book.⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a lovely chat with the lady who checked me into my appointment to have my tires changed at Walmart because she is wearing a "Read Banned Books" t-shirt. I love book people!
4,218 books were banned in the 2023-2024 school year. It will more than likely get worse in the next year. Reading is power. pickThis is not about books, but it encompasses a lot of other things. It deals with abuse (both spousal & by a teacher), a dying parent, family dynamics and a romance. In spite it being 'a lot', I really enjoyed it and gave up a few hours of sleep because I could not put it down. I loved Gia's strength and the realistic portrayal of what she went through as a teen (legally believed, but a town pariah) . Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. 4.5/5
bailedI have to bail. I would have bailed on page two, if this wasn‘t our next book club selection. It is virtually unreadable and definitely not the refuge I need from the state of the world right now. 😢

pickThis was good, a low pick for me because there was so much going on that it felt a little ridiculous. A woman returns home to help hey dying mother and had to come to terms with a difficult past.
