Window Shopping | Tessa Bailey
A sizzling, standalone, feel-good holiday romance from Tessa Bailey, New York Times bestselling author of It Happened One Summer. Two weeks before Christmas and all through Manhattan, shop windows are decorated in red and green satin. I'm standing alone in front of the famous Vivant department store, when a charming man named Aiden asks my opinion of the dcor. It's a tragedy in tinsel, I say, unable to lie. He asks for a better idea with a twinkle in his eye. Did I know he owned the place? No. He put me on the spot. Now I'm working for that man, trying to ignore that he's hot. But as a down on her luck girl with a difficult past, I know an opportunity when I see one-and I have to make it last. I'll put my heart and soul into dressing his holiday windows. I'll work without stopping. And when we lose the battle with temptation, I'll try and remember I'm just window shopping.

A feel good holiday romance with more spice than I was expecting! Shop windows in Manhattan are works of art on the run up to Christmas. At the famous department store, Vivant, a store manager asks a woman ‘Stella‘ looking at the window display what she thinks of it. Stella, with no luck and a difficult past is offered a great opportunity which she takes with both hands. Don‘t let the cute front cover fool you as they is a lot of 🌶️ 🤣

I really liked this romance. It's not often that the grumpy/sunshine trope has a cheerful man/grumpy woman. Stella has just been released from prison & is trying to get on her feet when she lands her dream job dressing windows for a NY department store. Aiden's unwavering faith in her was a little over the top but I liked that he gave her the space to figure out her own way & she also helped him grow as a person

Andrew65 Well done ☃️☃️☃️ I like the look of this. 1y

Soft pick, but if you need some festive uplifting 🌶️ romance in your life, it‘s not bad. There were a couple things that irked me, but it was a short enough read that it didn‘t go on long enough to dissuade me.

Stella, newly released from prison, tries to restart her life & applies for her dream job, falls for her cornball boss. The grumpy/sunshine was actually less cartoony than some of her others.

Ms Bailey is not for me, it seems. Second book of hers that I'm bailing on.

It's not the Insta-Love. Or the Grump and Sunshine trope.

No, it's the weird time line of the male MC's life. It just doesn't make sense. (see comments)

#AVeryMerryReadathon @TheSpineView

julesG The book is set after the pandemic - let's say in Dec 2021 (cutting the book some slack). The female MC is 25 y/o. The male MC says he's 1.5 presidencies older than her; he had to live with his aunt in the US South, because his father and his new wife needed the house to themselves; he went to school at his aunt's, his classmates making fun of the tall Yankee;... 2y
julesG Then he says his aunt taught him how to dress a rabbit as his Christmas present in 1994. - - - I've counted it out on my fingers several times. It still doesn't make sense. It just doesn't add up. Not unless a presidency is 10 years. 2y

I think Grumpy/Sunshine has become my favorite romance trope, and this book absolutely nails it. Stella is hired by the absolutely charming Aiden Cook after telling him everything wrong with a department store's holiday window display, unaware that it was his department store. It's fun and steamy holiday romance.

Finished this up before heading to bed. Soft pick. You can tell the Mmc was inspired by Ted Lasso. It didn‘t feel christmasy really for me. Still a fun little holiday read. Getting close to a bingo!

Again, I'm behind in my reviews. 🤷‍♀️ Finished this over a week ago. It was good but too short I think. They could have fleshed out more involving the heroine's past in jail, in my opinion, as it was a big of her personal experience yet we didn't get a full view of it. This was good but much shorter than I would have expected. And more smutty, too, lol.

This was a fun story. I‘ve never read Tessa Bailey before but when I heard the nice guy, always positive MC was based on Ted Lasso, I had to read it. I liked that the grumpy one in the relationship was the female MC! (I‘d really like a book based on Roy Kent and Keely though). The window design part of the story was also fun. Note: this cover makes it seem like this is a Sophie Kinsella kind of book, but this is a open door romance for sure!

My other book this weekend was this 🔥🔥🔥🔥Christmas romance that I downloaded on a whim. It was SO MUCH STEAMIER than I was expecting but — I‘m not mad about it.
I love a good Grumpy Bear meets Cheer Bear story line and I especially loved the fact that it was the female lead who carried the bah humbug attitude. I just wish I could see her window dressings IRL!

All the Tessa Bailey steam without all the Christmas story cheese. Though it does take place at Christmas, it is not over the top like the Hallmark movies. Not much of Stella's history was told or harped on (can't say without spoiling), but as the books premise was moving forward in life, I thought that was actually a smart move by the author. Just under 250 pages so it was a pretty quick read.

I really enjoyed this new steamy rom-com! It does take place in the Winter but it does not scream Christmas, there is a holiday party. It has trademark Tessa Bailey steam, the hero is like a cinnamon roll alpha and a goth Ex-con heroine. It‘s charming and smutty and good fun. 4⭐️

Seinfeld is now on Netflix and I'm watching it for the 1st time. It for some reason didn't interest me when it was on in the 90s. I'm up late watching it and also created my November #BookSpin list.
