I enjoyed this reimagining of the Rumplestiltskin tale. It‘s a darker YA fantasy, but with some romance. There is also a good dash of spookiness (perfect October read) with the Erlking and his ghostly retinue. It could use a little trimming in the middle (it‘s a bit repetitive), but the climactic scenes were thrilling and it ends on a cliffhanger. Will definitely have to seek out the sequel to see what happens!
“‘I-it‘s all right,‘ she croaked. Gild had told her that he could pass through ghosts. He had tried to pass through her when they‘d first met. Squaring her shoulders, Serilda tried to be more conscious of the physical limits of her body. She reached out to them again. They were more hesitant, but as Serilda‘s hands found their arms, their cheeks, their hair, they again pressed into her.”
After therapy donut 🍩 and book 📖 time. Getting to the really exciting point of this book!
Took a brisk little walk this morning and following it with #coffeeandabook - vanilla latte with an extra shot and an egg and cheddar biscuit sandwich
It‘s a gloomy October day, but perfect for enjoying #coffeeandabook - pumpkin white chocolate mocha and a bagel 🥯 📖
“THIS STATUE ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THE ASCENSION OF
QUEEN
AND HER HUSBAND
KING
THEIR MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTIES
TO THE THRONE OF ADALHEID
She read them again.
And again.
That was it?
No - there should be names.
She felt around the blank plains of the stone, but there were no more words.
Queen and King who?
Serilda traced the words with her thumb, then brushed her fingers against the wide-open spaces where names should have been.”
Today‘s #CoffeeAndABook - caramel latte and some pumpkin pancakes with pumpkin whipped cream. Perfect for #SweaterWeather
After having to fill all my tires with air (the “joy” of it going from 70+ degrees to 50ish), I definitely deserve a treat! Starting this book while enjoying a mocha, a caprese sandwich, and some chips.
This book starts off slow, but it really picks up in the second half.
I've never read a rumpelstiltskin retelling before. It's a really cool story.
I think I will probably like the second book more.

Rumpelstiltskin reimagining set in a dark, gloomy, gothic castle, full of ghosts and Germanic folklore. There‘s a little bit of romance and a whole lot of heartbreak, seriously it‘s a bit dark for YA in my opinion. No happy ending, yet. But an intriguing cliffhanger that has me reeling for the sequel! All in all, Gilded is pure GOLD (haha, very clever) 5/5
It‘s been hard to put down! A dark Rumpelstiltskin retelling, how unique! And the perfect buddy read pick with @KateReadsYA 😍

This is a YA Rumpelstiltskin retelling. So dark and cruel with the characters. Some twists I didn‘t see coming at all. I really liked it but I think some parts were extremely long adding nothing to the story or to characters. I think this is common in this author but in general I loved it. Waiting for sequel next nov. Two pretty editions, I‘m a book collector😜3.8/4⭐️384 pages during July 2022 #20in4 Readathon @Andrew65 this was long 500 pages
