Tense, gripping and with a twist you won't see coming, The Split is an explosive new stand-alone thriller from Sharon Bolton about a woman on the run. No matter how far you run, some secrets will always catch up with you... The remote Antarctic island of South Georgia is about to send off its last boat of the summer which signifies safety to resident glaciologist Felicity Lloyd. Felicity lives in fear fear that her ex-husband Freddie will find her, even out here. She took a job on this isolated island to hide from him, but now that he's out of prison, having served a term for murder, she knows he wont give up until he finds her. But a doctor delving into the background of Felicity and Freddie's relationship, back in Cambridge, learns that Felicity has been on the edge for a long time. Heading to South Georgia himself to try and get to her first is the only way he can think of to help her.

I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the book andI feel like I know what's happening ... but then I think 'I'm only 1/3 of the way in and I almost never figure things out this quickly' and so am doubting myself lol

(Tagged the Split because it talks a lot about cold weather! Lol!)

1. Nope. Moved quite a bit when I was growing up. Then moved to a totally different city 4 years ago.
2. Ooo good question. I‘m going with the sun in the sky and the air in my lungs! 😎

Thank you for tagging me @robinb

Ooh, this was a good, twisty, turny read! Just when you think you have the plot nailed down, something else pops up! I loved it. I really liked the descriptions of South Georgia - it sounds both beautiful and uninviting!

Mainly I'm a fan of her Lacey Flint series but her stand-alone thrillers are usually good fast moving reads too.

And reading about glaciers took me away for a while. 🐧❤️

This is a murder mystery with a really unique edge, there are the murders of rough sleepers, home invasion and yet it also deals with abuse, mental illness, homelessness and fear. There‘s a clever, complex plot with some really creepy moments too…..my windows are all shut and locked that‘s for sure….! Dark, tension filled and a thoroughly chilling read. I loved every minute.

Wow, what an exhilarating read! A gripping, rollercoaster of a read full of twists and turns. I have to admit I was completely confused at one point and my head was in a spin! I really didn‘t know what to believe. It took me on such an mystifying journey. The descriptions of South Georgia are wonderful, I could almost feel the freezing temperatures and the ice crunching beneath my feet. A disturbing and exciting psychological thriller - loved it

The blurb says it‘s “tense, gripping, & with a twist you won‘t see coming” - except you probably will. Also this is the second book I‘ve read recently where therapists seem to quickly forget their professional ethics & cross the line. Not good. 3⭐️

Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Orion Publishing Group / Trapeze, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley

Sharon Bolton does it again. She always surprises me. This is one of her slower burn books but dang. I loved the building tension. Great book! Now I‘m excited for the next in the Craftman series! #murder2020 20/30

Beautiful day is very deceiving... cold. Deciding to stay in, be lazy, watch the Hunger Games and read. I‘m not quite sure what is really happening in this book but if I know Sharon Bolton like I think I do, I‘m in for a jaw dropping revelation. 🤔

Because I decided having the ebook is just not enough. 🤣 Plus in her news letter she said she‘d send signed book plates to everyone that sent in copies of receipts of preorders. So I just had to get the book to put it in!

Setting: Antarctic & Cambridge. Felicity is on the run and hiding from her ex-husband in South Georgia Island in Antarctica. She is a glaciologist. While back in Cambridge she visits a psychologist who delves into her background and ends up helping her. A bit slow in the beginning but a very gripping read in the end. Twists kept me on the edge!
I would like to thank St. Martin‘s Press for an ARC for an honest review.

EadieB This book will definitely end up as a favorite read for this year. Sharon Bolton has outdone herself! 4y

EadieB @eanderson yes! She is amazing! 4y
EadieB @tracey38 yes! Edge of the seat thriller! 4y
Tove_Reads I know! I sometimes wonder if I should try to become an Arc reader as well. 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I like NetGalley but you have to be careful not to get to backlogged with all the other reads we do too because you should get your review done before published date. 4y
Tove_Reads Where do they expect the reviews to be? 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I put mine on Goodreads, LibraryThing, Twitter, anywhere you can. Some people have blogs. Litsy is great because so many readers here. They ask you to put it on Barnes and Noble and Amazon and notify you a reminder when the book is published. 4y
Tove_Reads So, I signed up. Will work@on my platforms today and tomorrow to get the up to date so that the publishers wants to give me books 😍 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Sounds good! Have you done any reviews in the past. They may want to check out reviews. 4y
Tove_Reads Reviews where? According to Amazon I‘m not eligible to review on their site 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Also you can check out: LibraryThing Early Reviewers/Member Giveaway - they have a list of books for people to review.

EadieB @Tove_Reads You can review on Goodreads, LibraryThing, on a blog (if you have one), Litsy 4y
Tove_Reads Yeah, I do review on Litsy and I‘m now copying the review to GR. Will review separately on both in the future. Also reviewing on my blog. 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads That should be good enough. I just requested Ken Follett's new book coming out in Sept 2020 In The Evening and The Morning - Description
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author, a thrilling and addictive new novel--a prequel to The Pillars of the Earth--set in England at the dawn of a new era: the Middle Ages
4y
Tove_Reads Most def would like to have that one, but I doubt I have a chance as a newbie 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I think you would have a very good chance as you have read so many follett books. Update all his book reviews and then go for it! 4y

Too excited!!! Wooooow, just found out Sharon is coming out with this new stand-alone in the spring. I am already waiting for spring more than anyone can understand, and now this! She‘ll have the follow up to the Craftsman out, too! Also, Jane Casey‘s new Maeve Kerrigan coming this spring. I feel like a child who‘s had way too much sugar! 🥰

This is what happens when I‘m half asleep, feeding a baby, and find out that my favorite author has 2 books coming out next year. I‘m so excited since she didn‘t have a book out this year. 💃

Tove_Reads Can‘t wait!!! This and the other one, Jane Casey‘s new one, and Angela Marsons working on a new one. Will I ever sleep again??? 4y
eanderson @Tove_Reads Right?!? I‘m seriously ready for it to be spring so I can read this book. I‘m also excited for the follow up to the Craftsman. I have the first two Jane Casey books and need to read them really soon. So to answer your question, nope! You won‘t sleep again! Too many good books!!! 🤗 4y
