Mehso-so

The final Young Elites book is just so-so for me. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. I lost interest at times, but there were moments that held my interest. I thought the story wrapped up nicely the way she went with it, but I am glad to be done the series to move onto something else.

Such an awesome book series sorry to have to put this world of characters down. This is such an amazing story. I went through so many emotions reading this series and was left satisfied with the way she ended it.

#NOSPOILERS #SERIESREVIEW I absolutely loved this book series! Upon opening the book, and reading the summary, something in my head just clicked...saying, "finally! a character I can sympathize with!" The book is astonishingly well written, filled to the brim with details, plot twists, character depth...just a great story. Loved the very first book. (There are, however, minor curses if anyone is worried about that). Well done, Lu! :) 10/10

THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED AND MORE!

The plot changes drastically and i've loved it! It's like the characters know what's really important and decide what to do about *THAT PROBLEM* together. I loved every character, every twist, every word. And Magiano... I love you with my entire heart. Yeap.

Idk what to say about this trilogy, YOU HAVE TO READ IT. I didn't like any Marie Lu's book, and then i read this trilogy 😅💘

When I started this series, I had no idea how deeply it would touch my heart. And now that I've finished it, I feel like I've lost a close friend.

I'm on page 199 of The Midnight Star and this book is definitely not disappointing me. It's been a long time since I read The Young Elites and The Rose Society. To the point where I hardly remember what had actually happened, but something I do remember is how greatly I identified with the main character, Adelina. That still rings true with The Midnight Star. 🌟

Oh lord, the ending of this did a number on my heart. I really appreciate the direction the author took this in, and did it in a way that didn't feel ... calculated or something, like it easily could have been. It's powerful and beautiful and a smart way to finish up this trilogy. Also it's always great when an author can make you care about someone who is really really bad most of the time. 4/5 ⭐️

I am SO DISTRAUGHT THAT THIS SERIES IS OVER. Beautiful, flawed, complex characters who reach out from the pages and don't let you go, an exquisitely-crafted world and mythology - I cannot praise Marie Lu enough for this trilogy. #themidnightstar #marielu

I got no reading done in between trick-or-treaters, and I froze my toes off. (And had a little punk say "I don't /like/ these," and promptly drop the crackers on the ground.) Now I'm home and snuggled and ready to take on this finale. #themidnightstar #marielu #theyoungelites

Ashley_Nicoletto Kids. 🙄🙄 Handing out candy for Halloween always reminds me of the kind of kids I hope to raise someday. 😂😂 and I LOVE doing it. Possibly one of my fav parts of the year. 2y
actualdisneyprincess @Ashley_Nicoletto right?? It just amazes me how brazen some kids are. Like, if I had ever done something like that, my mother would have kicked my ass and I would have been taken right home. But I do love trick-or-treat night! I wish it wouldn't have been so cold, though, because I usually pass out snacks in costume, but it was FRIGID and I had no costumes to accommodate the cold! 😩 2y

The Young Elites, book three.

The final installment in the trilogy starts with Adelina ruling her conquered lands through fear and cruelty. The more she uses her powers, the more she is pulled into darkness and the more her illusions strike back at her. When a new danger appears, Adelina reluctantly joins forces with the Daggers.

A thrilling and satisfying end to a dark and twisted trilogy.

The problem with following up a masterful heroine to villain transition in a new novel is how terribly hard it is to read the villain's perspective when you're no longer rooting for her. It becomes a touch wearisome. I'm only a few chapters in and I'm having to take a break because it feels a little like trudging through mud. I'll return to it and post a full review soon.

I love Adelina as a villain so I was almost sad to see her have a redemption arc but it was done very well. My only qualm is that the romance between she and Magiano doesnt always work because she is so dang crooked.

Wow, what a bittersweet and very fitting ending for the Young Elites and their anti-heroine Adelina. I did not know how the final confrontation was going to go down, but in retrospect it feels like the way it happened was the only way it could have happened, if that makes any sense. Very much looking forward to Marie Lu's new works and reading the Legend trilogy that's been sitting patiently on my Kindle for a shamefully long time.

BookNerdBritt @OceanCityMama Did you finish it? 3y
Daisey I need to pick this series back up. I liked the first book but have never gotten my hands on the second. 3y

OceanCityMama @BookNerdBritt It was a beautiful ending! I wish I'd read the series closer together, I think it would have been more impactful that way. I sort of envy anyone going forward that can have them all at once, haha. But I adore Marie Lu's ability to wrap up a story in unexpected ways that feel so organic. She's a master. (edited) 3y
BookNerdBritt @OceanCityMama For some reason it wasn't on my radar until the 3rd book was due to come out, so it worked out to just wait to read them til I could read all three. I actually went to an author event for The Midnight Star and she talked a little bit about her new book, Warcross, which sounds like it's going to be awesome. She's also writing a YA Batman novel! 3y
OceanCityMama @BookNerdBritt ah that's awesome. All of those things, haha. I've been stalking her Pinterest board for Warcross, it has me pumped! Definitely top ten for anticipated reads next year. Although... I kinda want to force myself to wait! But is that even possible? I think I know too much! 😜 3y

A pretty good conclusion to The Young Elites series. I liked how Adelina's relationship with her sister remained central in this final volume. Readers' satisfaction with The Midnight Star will likely hinge on whether they want to see Adelina redeemed or committed to her dark path. Full review: https://goo.gl/kpgXSY

Book challenge day 6 (Elegy/tragedy) - this whole series was a bit of a tragedy. Poor vicious, angry, hurt, powerful Adelina - sharing her terror and trying to save in turn. These books were all a bit of roller coasters for me, especially this last book, and I had a serious love/hate relationship with them.

How did you guys feel about Adelina? Love her or hate her?

Well dang. I predicted the ending - but that epilogue! I got shivers. My biggest problem with this series was that I couldn't remember the first two. I could remember the main points, but I forgot most of the powers of the Elites (and even some of the characters 😫). Marie Lu is awesome though, and this was an epic end to a dark, intriguing series.

Saw "A Torch Against the Night" on the shelf and had to grab it. Ended up picking up "A Confusion of Princes" and "The Selection" as well and when I want to check out they mentioned my hold for "The Midnight Star" was in ?. .. not a bad day at the library.
