I miss Montana so I decided after talking with my mom that I wanted to read the Horse Whisperer. I loved the movie so I‘m sure the book will be good! 🐴

Here are some of my favorite books published in 1990s. Can't believe these are 30 years old or close to it.
pickSaw this one at Goodwill and decided to give it a re-read. It‘s both heartwarming and utterly heartbreaking. To me, the ending still seems a bit contrived. But nevertheless, this story pulls at the ole heartstrings throughout. The author also did a lot of research. I grew up on a horse farm and I‘ve noticed that many horse stories are so unrealistic. That‘s not the case with this story. The details are accurate enough to be plausible.
pickI've always loved this book ❤ Such a beautiful story which really got me as a teenager as my pony, Magic, was very like Pilgrim and my parents used to say I was a horse whisperer 🤣 Even as an adult I cried and cheered whilst reading this book 🥰

Years ago I saw the movie The Horse Whisperer. It‘s was likely another year before I read the book. The book‘s conclusion was unlike the movie. I was not expecting the ending and cried the ugly cry.
Oh, and Bridge to Terbethia - why don‘t they just publish this story with warped, tear-stained pages already.

pickI love this book! Such a beautiful story! To call it simply a love story is wrong I think. It's so much more. It tells a story about families, relationships, horses and getting over a trauma. I was surprised of the ending though. I've seen the movie several times but only after reading this book I realized that stories like this can have more than one fitting ending. 🐎
I have no idea why they have to advertise this as the "great love story" on the cover. This book is so much more than that! It tells a story about family relationships and the difficulties people face with them, about horses and surviving an awful accident. To say this is simply a love story is just ridiculous! I have noticed this with other books as well. As if book just has to have a cheesy back cover text and hide the more important things. ?
I think I bought this book about a year ago from the used books store. Opened it today for the very first time and found an interesting dedication: "On father's day 1998 to Olavi from Kirsi". Maybe this Olavi loved the movie and Kirsi decided to give the book to him as a present? Or maybe Olavi loves horses and Kirsi thought that this would suit him well? Maybe Olavi then didn't really love the book since it ended up in the store? ???
Next up! I remember seeing the movie years ago and loving it. Hope this will be even better. I felt like reading something light to pair it with the Stephen King I'm reading at the moment. (Life in Shawshank prison kind of needs something not-so-awful to go with it. This felt perfect for that.)

pickA beautiful tragic tale about a horse and a girl, who are two damage lost souls trying to reconnect. Grace & Pilgram were in an horse riding accident that involved a semi truck. Pilgram was badly injured from trying to protect Grace from the truck. Both their lives were forever changed that day.The movie was really great too. I loved this book but hated the ending.

However the film broke my heart- it was the first film for which I said the phrase "that's not the same as the book". It finished half way through the book and didn't get to the best bits.
One of my favorite! Finally got myself to read it again!
